The great Is-Henderson-Better-Than-Rougier debate was raging again today in H Block. Bit of a no-brainer tho. The trick is to disregard anybody who has an intelligent-sounding voice who guffaws at the very thought of the Albion signing Rougier. Cos they don't know their football. End of. Bobby Z. wasn't our talisman last season, he sulked through most of it,. Sir Anthony on the other hand crashed and stumbled through defences in the month he was with us and made his own luck. Brought a smile to our faces and had four goals directly attributable to him. He loved us and was gagging to be signed and to make his mark. Compare and contrast with the non-trier that is Henderson... ???

I had high hopes of Henderson. But he's failed to impress and most of the time looks like someone serving his time. And while it's probably unfair to compare him with the Mighty Leon, he's playing a pedestrian game all of his own rather than trying to make what could be a really unbeatable combination upfront.

If you think Rougier is the answer you obviously didn't hear the question clearly.

Clearly you have fond memories of a bumbling, stumbling oaf who fluked his first goal and basically fluked his involvement in the others but we're all entitled to our opinions. Because I don't agree with yours does not make me a dunce-any more than your desire to see him back makes you one!

I agree that he is a better option than Henderson but
he's not exactly setting the world on fire at Brentford is he and personally I think McPhee is a better option than either of them.

Tom, I take what you've said (that someone who didn't want Rougier back doesn't know their football) as a slight!!

I know my football, and although will concede that Rogier had a reasonable month with us, don't try and make him out to be anymore than a very average forward (who hit a purple patch with us admittedly, but no way would he do it over a season)

Everytime I've seen him play against us he was hopeless and he had one good game (away at Ipswich) and a scrappy goal (Millwall at home?), but I was sooooooooooooo glad when we offered him peanuts and he didn't choose to sign with us

Rougier is not the answer.

And neither is Henderson.

Why oh why was he absolutely knackered with 15 mins to go?

Either a) he is unfit. For which there is no excuse, he's been with us for a month

b) he is injured. In which case send him back to Reading. Why should we be paying the wages of an injured player?

or c) he is crap. We are not here to improve players who don't even belong to us. If we wanted to do that we should play McPhee/Marney/Wilson-Denis up front.

Send him home. Get someone better in. And play McPhee in the meantime - give the lad a real chance.

Fair do's DNBHA - but you gotta admit he used to fair freak out defenders with his charging rhino falling over gig, which made them understandably nervous. and who's to say that purple patch would not have continued if we'd given him a chance. We'll never know now, and we're lumbered with Henderson, who's limitations are painfully clear for all to see.

I agree, the Reading forward we should have signed was the prolific Martin Butler. We could'nt afford his wages though.
