Just got back from Italy where I was visiting relatives and you should see the shit the Italian team got when they returned back to Rome. Not only where the suppoters swearing at all the players as they arrived but they went as far as trying to bundle them over and throwing rotten tomatoes at them, which I think is rightly deserved considering the money they get. Not only that it only took the italians less than 24 hours to sack Crappatoni and his team. Why the hell we cant adopt this attitude over here I do not know. If the England team got a hostile reception like the Italians did it might knock them down a few pegs, but no the press will still continue to say we where robbed. At the end of the day beckham should have scored that penalty being a the world class player that he is.

So when you have a shit day at your job it'll be ok for your customers to come and be offensive to you ? :jester:

Are these the same Italians who blamed the ref, FIFA, the South Koreans - indeed anybody but themselves - for their elimination from the last WC & hounded a foreign player that scored against them but happened to play for a club in the Italian league, by any chance?

Westdene Seagull there is big difference between us regular people and our so called superstar England team. I earn £225.00 per week after tax, they propbably earn £25,000 per week after tax, thats why they deserve a hostile reception, that's why the italians do what they do and have won 3 world cups is becuase they are passionate about the game and expect no less than there team to come back with the trophy Capito.

So everytime the Albion let us down, we can go down this route? Although they earn less than these guys they still earn more than most of us. Some people on here are not going to like this idea....

What he is saying is, the bigger the salary, the more abuse they can receive.

So if the Italians are fair game for rotten tomatoes, then using the same culinary yardstick England players can expect to recieve a few smatterings of Pot Noodles coming their way.

So if the Albion fail I can throw cheaper goods at them, say something from the Tesco Value range?

While I don't condone throwing things at people, there is a good point in Adrian's argument.

To get better you need to learn from your mistakes. England show no signs of doing this. We went out of the the last World Cup because we were tired, gave impetus to the opposition by being unable to pass to each other and played an unfit captain. We went out of Euro 2004 for pretty much the same reasons. And I reckon it'll happen again because we haven't learnt.

Beckham gave himself 7/10 for the tournment. Sven said he didn't think he had done anything wrong. Oh dear, this is not good. It is delusion from people in very comfortable positions. Personally I would sack Sven and take the captaincy away from Beckham - tell him he has to earn it back.

If that was the argument, then the finger should be pointed at the top bods at the FA, who could have started and finished the season a bit earlier. Or try and shorten the season by reducing the size of the Premiership, or abolishing one of the cup competitions.

However, as we all know - that is bollocks, because it was the same for nearly everyone. Do you blame the individuals, or the system under which they have to work?

The Italians had rotten tomatoes thrown at them when they were knocked out the 1966 world cup by the North Koreans so this thing has been going on a long time. However, I believe that this reaction is one of the reasons why the Italians are so defensive because they are frightened to lose. Subsequently, you end up going round in vicious circles all the time and the pelting of veg becomes counterproductive.

So we have our answer, England again under acheive in the European Championships so the last trophy won was in "uhhhmmm let me think, oh yeah 1966 Yawwnnn!!!", Im sorry whether you agree with me or not, but the italians supporters have the proper attitude and the italian team got their just deserts for losing. It's a shame we dont do the same here and let our players know how badly they have performed, rotten tomatoes would be a great idea.

However is it not good man management not to criticise your players in public, but to keep that in house?

Perhaps we could even build a big circular arena, and watch em fight wild animals to survive or even against each other until the death!!

Failing that they could race each around the arena with weapons fitted to the wheels so they take each other out whilst racing!!!

Surely through fear they would then start winning!!

:lolol:

Diddums. If it makes you feel better to hurl missiles at someone who has upset your delicate sensibilities, you go ahead and do it. Nazis, paedophiles, granny-bashers are one thing - but someone 1,500 miles away who missed a penalty, thereby making poor you feel bad? Get real.

In any case now they missed the penalities they get to mock themselves in a Pizza Hut advert, whilst making a packet, so you could them throw things at the TV.

It is. I don't want a witch hunt though. I want David Beckham to say 'I was very poor and not fit to play. I shouldn't have played.' I also want Sven to at least say 'I made some poor decisions, we shouldn't have sat back on 1-0 and maybe I made some poor substitutions' If there is any criticism of players within the camp, then you are right, they should keep it behind closed doors.

I don't want our players and management to be so fearful of defeat that it adversely affects them, I just want us to learn from what went wrong.
