jesus christ. from some of the comments i have read it sounds like we were awful last night and the fact is WE PLAYED WELL!

ok gerrard made a silly mistake and let in the quickest striker in the world who was frustrated.

he had a very comfortable game. when we had the ball we looked very accomplished. great movement from scholes lampard etc off the ball creating space.

we limited frances chances to lofted balls into the box. no danger at all

king was superb

as was campbell

rooney looked a livewire

vassel added energy when he came on

they ONLY scored from a silly freekick and a silly penalty.

they NEVER actually played there way through our defence including 5th/6th choice centre back.

henry looked normal

zidane didnt know what to do.

until the end when heskey and gerrard relaxed slightly we looked very good.

so for gods sake its not all doom and gloom.! the lads made us proud for 91 minutes and made the french look ordinary. we CAN BEAT switzerland and croatia with ease and WILL progress. so chins up and stop moaning!

we are england! we always make things hard but loosing by 1 goal to a lucky french team when we made the look ordinary is not all doom and gloom.

come on england!!!

everyone has this view that he and scholes played awful for the whole game! if we had won then people would have said they held the midfield well(which they did) but no, we have to say they played awful because we lost. tosh

Until we scored, I felt we were playing entertaining and quality football. Once the goal went in we tried to play on the counter-attack. We nearly got way with it and I just hope we go out and attack Switzerland and Croatia with belief. Owen cannot be that ineffective again, Rooney and King were a revelation so there's plenty to look forward to. Although I can't see us winning we need to get into the knockout stages and the adrenalin will run again. Holland, Italy, Germany anyone ?

im confused to what we should do. sure its makes sense to put in terry but surely king deserves his chance after last night

Sven has a lot of work to do to build the team back up. After that sort of defeat the confidence drains out of you.

If we can get focussed on Switzerland then there's no reason why we can't win the next two matches as neither they nor Croatia looked that good.

Another positive point is that we won't have to play France again unless we both reach the final.

I thought we done well enough to win, King had a blinder of a game and might even force his way into starting on thursday. Rooney looked class as did the midfield. Henry was kept quiet all game and you could tell they did'nt expect that much of a game from us.

I think we'll beat Swiss/Croatia on that performance, but for some strange reason I can see France slipping up against Croatia...well lets hope so anyway!

i see what your saying but surely we DONT want croatia to get a result against france. it will help us out alot if they have 1 point when we face them and we have 1/3 points.

Maybe Mark McGhee should give him a call....he certainly knows how to keep a team focused on the end result regardless of how the game is going.
