FA Cup 3rd and 4th rounds are very much key games, given its a knockout competition.
You can lose a league game like tonight but still go on to achieve the target.
You're simply picking and choosing 'key' games which we've lost rather than acknowledging key games we've won
So in your opinion, you believe that we win and perform more often in key/ big games than we bottle?

I find that hard to believe based on evidence I have seen through time. I totally disagree with you.. It seems like we have some sort of DNA that means wea are suspect in these types of games and it hangs over us like a dark cloud - We don't seem to win enough of them.

Injuries. More injuries than all the other PL teams

Key injuries this time.
True, and not just this season which begs the question why?

Definitely upsets continuity and it’s frustrating to see a new member of the medical room almost every game. Key to Palaces surge is they possess a nucleus of consistently available players, something we’ve struggled to achieve over the past couple of seasons.

I didn't say I believe we win more key games than we lose.
It's what your defining as 'key'. It very much feels you're say winning a 3rd or 4th round cup tie isn't a key game but losing in the quarter final is.

We definitely bottled winning the Championship. Should have been ours. Villa did us again that day.

Nope, I get where the OP is coming from and we are a bit Spursey without shadow of a doubt. I guess our lack of final appearances and trophies is the ultimate indicator. Which suggests perhaps we do?

Define "bottling"

Is it OK to lose any big game?

Sometimes the other team are just better.

We didn't "bottle" anything tonight.
Nor did we bottle anything on Saturday.

Come up short against 2 strong teams having decent seasons.
And most importantly having a near complete squad to pick from.

how many more times are we going to blow chances in key/ big games - I reckon we've won not many in all the time I've been going (since 1993). Doncaster H (1997), Bristol City Play off final 2006 and Marseille (h) to win the group in europa league about only times I can remember us winning any of type of "key / big games

5 Wembley appearances - no wins (2 x fa cup semi finals, 1 cup final & replay, one play off final)
Play offs vs Palace
Play offs vs Sheff Weds
Luton in JPT trophy final
Palace A - 5-0
Millwall FA cup Qtr final
Swindon Play offs
Championship collapse (not winning the league)
Middlesboro A
Play offs vs Derby
Athens (H)

Sure there's others i missed

So frustrating that we continually do this... Tonight was such a great chance to take a significant leap and Dent villa - We just don't take our chances in these types of games to be dominant and kill teams off.

Colombo here to use your old expression, you’re Palarse. You pop up every few years with not very well veiled negative stuff about the Albion, the occasional “we” and less gloomy thing to distract.

You're implying i'm a palace fan.. Seriously? - Are you for real? What on earth are you on about?

You literally have no idea what you are talking about...

That is the most bizzare thing I have ever seen on here FML....

Playing staff from Wembley appearances to today are utterly different, as is the management team and board of directors. Maybe blame the fans for being constant wet wipes?

We are a small club that has never developed a ' winning mentality ' and have never really had the players likewise.
How many of our current squad have actually won anything of note?
At key times big players step up and managers make big decisions.
One Cup Final in 124 years and two thirds of our history in the bottom two divisions means we are trying to play catch up with many clubs used to winning.
To me our only hope is the Europa Conference but I'm not sure we will make that.

Give me the examples of when we have been absolute bombproof consistently in big/ key games... I'm making a point that we don't seem to do particularly well in these tpyes of games when there is defining consequences of getting a result.. (with today being yet another example) - Do you genuinely feel like we are reliable in key games to get a result consistently more than we lose? - I just don't see it happen enough... we are more likely to come unstuck.
HEREFORD!

No bigger game in our history? Survival depended on it (so way greater consequence than losing an FA Cup final).

No team is bomb-proof so stop wetting your knickers when we get beaten by a decent side....

That wasn’t a key game or else you could say Norwich and Bristol City were.

It’s interesting that the poster put the playoff against Palace first before the other playoffs so not even in chronological order and the 5-0 loss to Palace wasn‘t a key game of the season.

Another error was the Luton JPT game wasn’t a final. The final was played at Wembley.
