how many more times are we going to blow chances in key/ big games - I reckon we've won not many in all the time I've been going (since 1993). Doncaster H (1997), Bristol City Play off final 2006 and Marseille (h) to win the group in europa league about only times I can remember us winning any of type of "key / big games

5 Wembley appearances - no wins (2 x fa cup semi finals, 1 cup final & replay, one play off final)
Play offs vs Palace
Play offs vs Sheff Weds
Luton in JPT trophy final
Palace A - 5-0
Millwall FA cup Qtr final
Swindon Play offs
Championship collapse (not winning the league)
Middlesboro A
Play offs vs Derby
Athens (H)

Sure there's others i missed

So frustrating that we continually do this... Tonight was such a great chance to take a significant leap and Dent villa - We just don't take our chances in these types of games to be dominant and kill teams off.

We won against Swindon and Millwall with last minute equalisers and then on penalties

Key injuries this time.

That Villa squad/eleven appeared to contain every single ‘name’.
Yeah that was very frustrating - it feels inevitable now that we are very very rarely if ever going to see our first choice 11 very often, or even that close to.

It’s pretty ridiculous to draw up a list of memorable defeats spanning years and years. We must be decent in some of the pressure games, otherwise it’s some sort of miracle that we’re in the top half of the Premier League again and won a Europa League group last season.

There was a time when we'd beat Villa in big games, but 1910 is admittedly quite a while ago.

And what happened in our 1st knockout game?

Not talking about just this specific game. Its a mentality thing.. We crumble in key games so many times...

Imho losing at Boro due to a referee in 2016 and other ancient history, has no bearing on a 2025 Albion team.

We could also draw up an incredibly long list of key match coups eg low budget Albion beating high budget Bristol C in Cardiff, beating Wigan for promotion, beating Manure with Macca’s last minute pen to close in on Europe, beating Stains to get to Europe, beating Marseilles to get out of the group, recovering for a vital draw in Marseilles, etc etc, beating Hereford, driving Chesterfield to cheat.

We were football paupers for decades but often more than held our own with a load of promotions, we’re now a mid table PL outfit with incredibly low odds of winning silverware (Newcastle spent vast sums to overcome 56 years of hurt), we often hurt Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Manure.

We’re not Spursy mark2.

Silly thread.

All clubs can list a set of painful losses and claim to be big game bottlers.

We've had a number of last minute winners over the past 3 seasons in massive matches.

The wheel turns and our fortunes change.
Name them.. Which one's?... When the season is on the line??

Alternatively:

Fourth Division Champions 2001
Third Division Champions 2002
Third Division Champions 2011
Recovered from a very nearly to season to reach the top flight
8 consecutive seasons in the top flight when most new teams will be relegated at some stage

I thought Albion won the Millwall and Swindon Town matches ?

Palace 5-0 was an expected result with the Albion team at that time. I'd raise you the unexpected 1-0 win 3 years later.
