Fair play to Wayne Rooney......

This time last year he was a shy teenager who didn't want to appear in front of the cameras, and when he did speak he sounded painfully dull and very shy

Now days, although still a young 'un, he is so much more composed and didn't sound tonight like the thick fat scouser I thought he was!!

I thought it was quite telling that Sven thought he was unfit when he joined the squad.
What the hell has David Moyes been doing? Keeps him away from the press, when he is obviously quite able to talk to them and then lets him get fat.

No wonder Everton are rubbish. I hope he moves to a decent team soon.
Maybe Dick will get his cheque book out and replace Iwelumo?

I remeber a thread not so long ago where a lot of people on this site wanted Heskey starting ahead of Rooney...

They have gone awful quiet now i notice.

Heskey over Rooney anyone...I think not.

I'll hold my hand up to that one.

But you have to admit, Rooney did go missing against some lesser opponents before this tournament. He's looking frightening now though. Heskey won't get a look-in now with Vassell in the sort of form he is now showing as super sub.

Perhaps it wasn't that Rooney was completely inarticulate, it's just that Moyes never let him speak to the media.

Now he's out of Moyes' clutches (and how worried is the ginger Scottish goon going to be about losing him now?) he's allowed to speak, and sounds alright to me. Not the dense, slow witted scouser we'd all been led to believe.

Certainly makes a pleasant change from having to listen to Beckham's high pitched wittering.
