There were two problems with Henderson:

1. He dropped a clanger or two (as do most keepers)
2. He wasn't Kuipers.

Oh please. There are two issues with this.

1. He dropped a clanger or 2 ALMOST EVERY GAME
2. He wasn't Kuipers. True. But neither am I.

Simply put he was a really poor goalkeeper who was selected because he could kick a ball straight as opposed to keep the ball out of the net.

Kuipers genuinely had nothing to do with my dislike of Henderson as a keeper, it was completely down to his lack of ability as one.

Well I didn't rate him as a keeper. Gave him a chance when he came here but his biggest asset was supposed to be his distribution which just meant he could kick it to the other keeper and he made too many errors where he made a save but just parried the ball back to another one of their forwards rather than out of play. He also came across as arrogant, wanting to be first choice rather than earning it.

As I said all very interesting but as the story changes including who was manager and what role Wilkins had at the time it all sounds a bit Hans Christian. What I would say is that one of the bloom brothers was quite vocal at the time that mm had spent money on a keeper both in wages and then a signing on fee when they felt the bigger priority was elsewhere in the team. Although this wont fit with your agenda!
My agenda!! What's my agenda. Please tell, because I don't. Just made a comment about a comment that was made at the time, and one I fully believe, as it came from the same source that has been right about most major isswues over the years.
But don't acuse people of having an agenda (whaever that mean) because they have views.:wozza:

Not directed at you, but every other keeper than Kuipers got criticised for mistakes he was above criticism for.

I hasten to add I did like Kuipers but some of the worship of him went over the top.

While I wasn't on NSC during the henderson/kuipers years, I've been here during the sullivan/kuipers, smith/kuipers and brezovan/kuipers debates, and while there are clearly people who put Kuipers above any other goalkeeper, forgiving him the mistakes and complaints that they level at the other, there are just as many people who do the reverse, who welcome any keeper simply because he isn't kuipers, who level abuse at kuipers that can apply to the other guy.

Spot on. I personally think he was a very good keeper at this level.
