I read a story about an amateur match I think in the Isthmian League many years ago in the pre card era. A player with the surname Christmas committed a foul and was being approached by the ref. As he passed an opposition player, the player said to the ref " You better watch him, he'll claim to be Santa Claus". When Christmas gave his name to the ref, he was sent off for dissent.

I remember Alan Navarro getting booked for playing on when a ref had blown his whistle. Deaf & hard of hearing players should be noted on the team sheet, so refs can take it into account.
