Watson Out

Got something to say or just want fewer pesky ads? Join us... 😊

OK so not verything in the garden is rosy, playing wise at the mo, but we're still a team that is more than capable of getting out of this division.

FFS its only February
I've watched Albion teams that have been ten times worse than this one (Anyone who can recall the horrors of Mullery's second spell will readily agree with that, and Jimmy CAses's teams????

Come on chaps - a couple of duff results doesn't make us a bad team

Blimey we might even knick a win on Saturday

However, I fully expect McGhee to execute an Adams-style clearout in the summer, seeing the likes of Watson, Jones, Oatway, Butters and possibly even Mayo, Hart and Chippy leave.

Then McGhee will bring his own men in, and then we'll start to see a bit more from the youth side.
Unfortunately Watson,Oatway,Mayo, Hart & Chippy are still under contract till June 2005, There's no way we could pay off their contracts this year under our present situation, so we are lumbered with them till the end of next season. Of the players out of contract in June 2004, i expect to see Jones get another year and either Butters or Blackwell to get the same, they both WONT get another year. All the rest can go.

Which is possibly why McGhee is persisting with them - trying to get the best out of them or mould them into something better?

Whereas Pethick, Pitcher et al seem to have been consigned to the bin.

Although these 5 players with contracts to next June are not setting the division alight, they are at least good enough to stop us getting relegated. *trying to look at this positively*

Your definition of mediocrity is I'm guessing what seperates us. The Albion are not a mediocre team, we fully deserve our current position in the league, the players have worked hard for it.

The Albion this season have been mediocre from what I've seen. However, I only really get to see away games due to living in Warws. When they have been promotion contenders is Rusden away, Sheff Wed home, Plymouth home and QPR home. The contrast between home and away is the problem. We were outplayed by Wycombe last week.

I dont think that getting rid of all the players mentioned is the answer, certainly Mayo who has been much better in recent weeks (watson I'll accept). I personally think the Solution is to teach players how to bring the ball out of defence without lumping it towards Knight (None of our full backs can do It, surely we can work on that in training) , realise when we are being outplayed in midfield and not play 4-2-4 but 4-4-2 as Mcghee tends to do when that takes place and for the players to take a bit more confidence into away games which only comes with results. That would see us through to the play offs.

His performance at Luton, begged the question, Is he a professional? His form since Coppell left has been substandard.

Must say I prefer that chant of Watson Out to Hoddle Out ....
takes me back 10 years to when West Ham were playing Fulham ...
One end were chanting Dicks Out and the other Cox Out!

These players might be past there sell by date but I can't believe you would be happy to get rid of them so much for loyalty. These are the same players who were more than happy to support us in our sit in at Wycombe.

Stuart Jones joined in with the rest and he had only played half a game.So we could give him a five year contract aswell.
I still believe we could make the play offs and have a great end to the season. However I also feel thet some of the players are getting a bit stale.Even the on-off Falmer stadium news must be getting to some of them, they may be realising that they may not ever get to wear the stripes in the new ground.Something they have been looking forward to since they joined. The players who have won us two championships might never get the chance to walk the hallowed Falmer turf in front of 20,000 fans.It would piss me off aswell.
Still we are 6th and we can reach the play offs and go up this season so ,They are ok by me until we get better.
