Just had a sudden thought: whatever happened to wasps? Remember THEM? They used to be big round these parts. Annoying and occasionally painful little bastards that stung yer legs when you sat on grass wearing shorts, or flocked around yer ice-cream like... well like wasps round an ice-cream actually. Don't recall seeing a single one this Summer here in BN1. Is it the hot Summers they don't like - or the third-rate Second Division football? SOMEONE must know

I for one have seen loads here in Guildford and other parts. If they were to become extinct tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough...hate the bastards

I think they were put on earth to piss me off-no other reason.

In a boat on a remote lake in Ontario, way out in the middle of it. Nice spot of fishing, cooler full of beer, hot sunny day. Out of nowhere comes one of the little gits, stings me on my arm:eek: and promptly f***ed off before I could splatter it.

Saw one at Withdean yesterday, a bit out of season, but probably flew in from the 'nature reserve'.

Oo-er... just as long as we don't get them at Falmer:

More like a swarm in E block yesterday.

One in particular seemed determined to take up residence in the kid in front of me's ear.

in my student house, there is a wasps nest outside! landlord still hasnt done anyhing about it, anyone a lawyer on here? should we keep paying rent???? ??? ???

They are definitely NOT extinct.

There's a sodding nest in my roof and they're drifting around the house in a state of semi-conscious doziness, looking for bits of carpet to settle on, in wait for bare-footed passers-by and the opportunity to deliver a nasty sting.

The helpful man from the council says "Leave them alone and they'll die off when the first really cold snap comes along".

It's almost November and the daytime temperature outside is what people emigrate to Tenerife for.

Bloody global warming!
