Was there an outcry when the stripes were abandoned?

I've ben looking for a Bukta shirt that fits for blimmin ages . . . I even looked at the Bukta website and seriously considered approaching them to make some shirts. something we'd need to club together to do ??? we could then go to the embroidwerers I use for my race stuff and get proper racing weight seagulls badges made to sew on . . . . . . .

no idea what they'd cost, but through my rose timted shades, its a price worth paying.

If my senile mind lets me remember correctly we wore the all yellow Caledonian adidas kit same as we wore at Highbury in the semi.
Of course you cannot mention Newcastle cup replay without mentioning all time Albion hero Mr Trelford Mills  :clap2:

Trelford Mills  :clap2:

I also think we wore all yellow up there too, I'm fairly sure there were 56 of us on the terraces that night but I too am going senile so may not have remembered correctly, perhaps someone else can confirm?

For some reason though I can remember the Geordies chucking loads of money at us which certainly helped towards my celebratory beer money after the match :lolol:

please do... they make fascinating viewing... i am just too young to have travelled much in the late 70s/early 80s and those regular trips to the biggest clubs must have been amazing experiences... also, so funny how times have changed and that in those days you could routinely only get a couple of hundred away fans...

So why did Wardy get the coach back with you guys then- was he not living in Brighton at the time and did you drop him off somewhere?

I'm sure we've got a couple at home somewhere (not for sale), I used to wear mine for PE

Worthing
first saw the albion in 67ish when they played in blue body`s and white sleeves and saw them play in all white in 1970 I think. Also saw them play in blue for a few seasons in early eighties so this has been a long run for the stripes.
