We totally lacked width down the left today. Rodger was played out of position to try and compensate and long punts often resulted. The boyo Jones showed us more tricks than David Nixon against Luton and the balance of the side was seriously affected today. We seldom used to play Brooker and Jones on the pitch at the same time, but rarely last season did we not opt for one or the other. Could there also have been a bit of dressing room disquiet reference Mr Roberts (worst goalkeeping performance since Packham against Preston) alleged late arrival as we failed to tick against a side who wanted it more than us for long periods? The ref was appalling, but we have to put him and the whole game behind us and consider ourselves fortunate to get a point. Some players don't look good for 90 mins, (Coppell effectively conceeded that "leg weariness" at Plymouth had cost us 2 points), but Gary Hart's ability to go the distance is never in doubt, so why was arguably it our best player that went off?

Rodger didn't help Mayo enough in the first half. Mayo had to look after 2 players most of the time.

They played 3-4-3 so we needed to get it down the wings but that was never going to happen with Rodger on the left.

Roberts didn't have a great game but his mistakes didn't cost us.

I personally didn't think Hart was that much better than the rest and thought bringing on Piercy was a good move.

It's a point against a very good side. No need to worry about the performance. It wasn't great but we got a point.

I think Swindon's game plan/tactics made it very hard for us and we really did miss Jones.

Because he was on a yellow card, the match was starting to get a bit niggly and the ref was in inconsistent mood.

Agree with you on everything else though. I would have played Harding from the start as he is a decent wide player and crosser of the ball and would have droppped Rodgers or Carpenter.

Should have taken chippy off and played Piercy on the left. Rodger seemed to be lost because of playing out of position, and missing the last couple of games. He kept getting in everyone else's way!

The 3-0 Scotty? Yes I was in the home end as it's a nice "local" game for me. Packham never got a look in after Preston (apart from Rushden & Diamonds I think it was when Kuipers got injured) as every time we had a goalie problem someone else managed to get in front of him eg Peterson, Beasant, Roberts, Royce.
