The ref could have justifiably sent him off although it would have been harsh.
Denying a goal scoring opportunity or deliberate handball........both red card offences.
In truth I don't think we will miss him between now and April and maybe the rest will be good for him.

Where is it stated that deliberate hand ball is an automatic red?

If it is deliberate and denies a goal scoring opportunity then yes but that is not what you post said. You implied that deliberate handball was an automatic sending off offence and it isn't, just a mandatory booking.

I agree that in yesterday's scenario there could well be an argument for sending him off although it was some way from goal and Greer was just to the left however, as soon as advantage was played by the ref he couldn't go back and send him off.
