Visiting team ticket allocations at the Amex

I've read that Cardiff only requested 5% allocation, which is 1350ish, and we're meant to be close to selling out. Cardiff are meant to be bringing not far short of a thousand so there should only be around 500 unsold seats, plus a couple of thousand no-shows.

They may have only requested 1350, but the 2 areas their fans are in hold 2000, so if they bring 1000, then we are 1000 short here.

There is also another 1300 behind the goal we have not sold. If you are right with 2000 ST no shows we will be 4500 short of capacity. Would still be the highest ever a the Amex though

Have to say that if the away tickets have gone up from £24 to £34 that is another example of extortion and is likely to see less away fans at the Amex as the novelty of a new stadium has now passed for most of the teams in the Championship.

As for Kingcole's comment about rail travel from Brighton being included, I suspect that any Barnsley fans travelling down by train would not notice the difference, if any, between a return from Barnsley to Brighton and a return from Barnsley to Falmer! Probably the only ones that will benefit are those travelling by car and lets be honest, a £10 hike in prices doesn't cover the cost of a bus from the town centre!!! Out of interest, what are the cheapest tickets you refer too, are they home or away and did you add the cost of a return fare to the price of an equivalent ticket last year cost?

Usually, and I'm sure someone will correct be, but when travelling from the North (from Sheffield), i've found there is next to no difference between booking a ticket to Haywards Heath rather than Brighton.

Thing is, I got the train back to Brighton from Falmer numerous times last year, and not once did I use/need a travel ticket. The Cardiff fans tonight for example, how many will actually be using the train (considering it means they can't get home, most will be on coaches or drive), and then how many of those will get their ticket checked, because I never did.

Either way, £34 for an away ticket is going to drive numbers down on a big scale. Their forum even has a thread of people not going due to the price. If we're mid table come the second half of the season, and are asking home and away fans for at least £30 just for the ticket, we'll start seeing a LOT of empty seats.

No I know you werent, was just putting it out there that A) you're very rarely asked for a ticket from Brighton - Falmer and B) Travel on long distances is usually a VERY similar cost to Brighton as it is to HH from my experience last year. In fact I looked at coming back for the Palace game last year, and it was CHEAPER to Brighton than Haywards Heath (Money well spent that was eh!). I just think £34 for a ticket is quite ridiculous, and then all those coming on a coach wanting a Beer/Pie? Oh, that's another £7.50.

The chairman has appointed this muppet to make the decisions. Surely that's the point of having a CEO?

He still rubber stamps the decisions. Bloom has stated that the club must be self sufficient once in the Amex, so if people want the best players then we have to be prepared to pay for it. As someone has already said, if you buy your programme in the club shop with your card, you get the discount which makes it a 15p rise.
It's interesting that whilst at Withdean, anything wrong with the club was Dick Knight's fault not the CEO (Perry) but now it's the CEO, who despite only starting work just 6 weeks ago, who cops the flak not Bloom.
