Really sorted themselves out in the last few games, hasn't had a huge mention on here but I think we should give them praise now seen as though most people had given up on them a few weeks ago, long may it continue.:clap2:

Virgo is currently in the best form he has ever been, I like Tunni but he can't get a game at the moment!

Virgo and Elphick ???

But, couldn't agree more. They're constantly criticised on here and they both deserve alot of credit for how well they've done at the back for us recently. What we've desperately needed for the last couple of years is a settled back line, and though the left back spot is contestable, I think we've pretty much got the defence sorted out now with Kuipers, Calderon, Elphick and Virgo there to stay. We'll be much better for the continuity of team selection. There are clubs much higher than us in the league, including one who are bizarrely 5th, who I don't think are as good as we are individually, but they play the same team every game. If we start doing that, we'll find ourselves in a similar position.

It's not rocket science what's been wrong with us, and it's not a big job to turn it around. Whilst some people would you have believe we haven't got good enough players, I think that's a load of absolute tosh and this current run of form should be seen as the standard and not the exception. I think the midfield could do with someone playing on the left, but failing that atleast we've got some kind of understanding going on in there now. It's looking up!

It's all about coaching, you have to invest in your people to get investment back and buy in from your staff!

It really is that simple, what we are now seeing are the results of the above statement!

I am pleased they have turned it around!

Agreed. Has looked fragile since coming back from injury. He still shows flashes of what he can do though, so can't wait for him to be 100% again.

I think the key for our back line is consistency. Virgo and Elphick have had two fairly strong games. I agree with the sentiment that we don't neccessarily need the best players, we just need good coaching and familiarity amongst the back four.

When we came 7th our back four wasn't any stronger than it is now (Richards, Lynch, Elphick, Whing), but it was picked consistantly, with Butters ofter filling in as back up. I think if Gus keeps picking the same guys and gets the coaching right, we are onto a winner.

i don't understand why Tunnicliffe has lost his place, he has played really well this season and it seems harsh that he has been dropped.

But Virgo and Elphick have formed a decent partnership

As has been said many times appears to be consious of protecting his kidneys, which is understandable, and as such is not going into situations that require physical strength like headers.
