With Mayo returning as left back and Elphick leaving would we be so happy?

Both seem very likely

I hope I'm not proved wrong, but unless a Championship club comes in with a silly bid for Elphick, I can't seem him going - MA has said that he sees him as future captaincy material. If someone like Wolves want to pay 500k plus for him, so be it - that represents good business. As for Mayo, I would be disappointed if he returns, but if he does, it will only be as cover for Lynch and / or a new 1st choice left back (hopefully Richards).

I think it's inevitable that Elphick will be taken by a bigger club sadly.

Hopefully not this season though.

The thought of Mayo getting a contract even as a stop gap makes me despair.

Still both of those events have yet to happen.

This is an excellent signing. He brings ability, leadership, personality and versatility.

Also, the return of Virgo and Adams will compensate in terms of club identity for the loss of Mayo, Hart, Butters, Wilkins and Chapman.

Mayo coming back wouldnt be a brilliant move IMO but I'd rather have him as cover than have no experienced LB's in the squad.
As for Elphick going, hasnt he just signed a new contract ? If he goes then we would surely get a decent wedge for him now he is player of the year and came through the ranks etc . We have cover at CB so wouldnt be a disaster and we could strengthen further with the cash. Would rather keep Elphick but if he goes then it wouldnt be the end of the world.

Is this another "bum's on seats" signing, like the appointment of Adams?

If so, can I suggest that we sort out Gully's Girls. The current crop are just too young to perv at.

If Gordon Strachan thought he was worth £1.5 million just 2 years ago then he should, I think, be able to handle League 1.

If Gordon Strachan thought he was worth £1.5 million then he should, I think, be in a different line of business. That said, he was probably just doing his old mate Magoo a favour. Bottom line is that Virgs will certainly be good enough for this league (and the one above for that matter).
