After we played Chelsea in that friendly I was speaking to some of their fans who basically thought he was brilliant and best player on the park by a long way. It probably wasn't even his best game for us let alone what his peak form was like.
I loved Vicente then as I love Mitoma now.
Mac Allister’s non goal against Leicester at the Amex also has to be a top non-goal moment. Robbed by VAR.

Mark Lawrenson , Alexis McAllister would be rivals for that. Mitoma too - he’s actually , unlike the others , played the best football of his career for Brighton.
Would also argue Caicedo is soon or now likely to up there too.

Vicente whilst with Brighton is not in the 5 for me.
I’ll say it quietly but Cucurella was good for us, there’s a few others that excelled in the championship every bit as much as Vicente….

Would Pele be 1960s Pele in 2025? No. The only athletics record that's stood since that time is the triple jump.
Vicente is a player from the modern era who was the standout player for a title winning team in Spain. He was the next big thing and could've moved to Madrid but turned it down to stay with his local club. The 22 year-old Vicente that tore up La Liga in 2003/4 would be a menace in today's Premier League or whatever other league he played in.
Mitoma is obviously marvellous but Vicente had additional qualities.

Tbf - for others - the OP is posing the question - the best ? regardless of where /when they reached the height in terms of their career.
Obv Vicente had a couple of fleeting moments for us - the Ipswich goal sums it up - but clearly prime Vicente was years before. Hard to compare to Mitoma (who saw him then regularly ? ) but clearly one of most talented at his peak (exciting, trophies won, internationals ) players ever on our books.

Probably. TBF I didn't see a lot of Vicente as I didn't have Spanish or European football on the TV. We're just lucky to have seen both in the stripes.

I filled in that Argus fans assessment of the season and felt very dirty answering the question, which player that has left would be your choice to return (or words to that effect). I thought about who would improve us the most, given the players we currently have, if he returned and decided on Cucurella.
Anyway in answer to the question, having seen Prime Vicente and Prime Mitoma my vote goes to Vicente. As an Albion player Mitoma walks it though.

That Valencia team of the early/through to mid 2000s was up there with the late 90s/early 00s Parma for me for fun.
People like Vicente, Ayala, Pablo Aimar, John Carew, Canizares, Mendietta, Mista and more. When you think the players Deportivo had around then and obviously the big 2, it was a fun time for La Liga.
From 99 to 04, Barca, Depor, Real and Valencia all won the league. Flair Times.
And to think Vicente won player of the year on one of those years. My mind still can't comprehend that we saw him in a Brighton shirt.

I did but would always go MacAllister or Lawrenson as IMO, they are irreplaceable for what they brought
