The 30-year-old midfielder, who has two La Liga titles and a UEFA Cup winners' medal to his name, admits he is lacking match fitness following his shock move to the Seagulls after leaving Valencia in the summer.

Vicente had his first training session on Tuesday before being officially unveiled at a press conference at The Amex Stadium.

"I think I have at least four or five more years left at a good level,"

Vicente told The Argus. "I have not come here for one year to finish my career, I want to improve here in England and to help Brighton to the highest level possible.

"I was with a personal trainer to try to keep fit but it's not the same as playing. I need a couple of days to start again, get the fitness and try to play my best.

"I am probably 40% match-fit at the moment but I think I can play a bit, not a full game. I need two weeks of training regularly. I am not ready to play to my best for a full game but I hope to be soon."

Two weeks of regular training to be fit to start? Started training on Monday... just over a fortnight before Liverpool... *strokes chin*

Even players say there is nothing like a real game to get match fit...Expect to see him on the bench and playing the last twenty mins, then half hour or so..Then starting and being subed after sixty mins...Up untill he is 100% match fit.

Expect he'll come on for a 20 minute debut against liverpool at 1-1, do little to impress due to rustiness, then receive the ball in the last minute of injury time, do something ridiculously top-drawer and get the ball in for an easy goal for CMS. The Amex erupts. We win, the Brighton revolution continues. Palace fans claim we still have only won games on luck whilst we smirk and consider how c*ntish they truly are whilst basking in the warm glow of expectation-rocking achievement. Nice.

I like

Although I think he will play for 20mins against BC and maybe 35 mins against LC, then I expect (and hope) he will play a role against Liverpool, however Nooney has to play for the majority of the liverpool game, he has earned it and it will be the one game he would be devastated not to play in.
