Isn't it more like Po-shet (with the Po pronounced the same way it is in Poyay and Poyet, so probably Poi). And failing that, Poyet. But never Poyay.

Sorry, I meant for Gus it should Poy-shet (Uruguayan pronunciation) or Poy-et which is what he's happy to be called in Europe - the stress on the T is important. He confirmed this in the Q&A from Portugal (which doesn't seem to be available on Seagulls Player anymore).

There is a character called Vicente in the film The Skin I Live In. His name was generally pronounced like this but a female character who appeared briefly pronounced it Vih-shen-tay. I presume both are correct, the difference being down to accent.

For me, there are big differences in etiquette when it comes to pronouncing places, foodstuffs and people's NAMES.

It is nice to try and pronounce people's names as they do themselves.

You won't find me calling his previous club "Balenthia" or that rubbish team "Bartha" just for the sake of pronunciation. His name, however, needs to be pronounced correctly. It's not hard to get right! A th th th th th th th th th th........Ole!
