seem to remember merson was one of the main reason pompy stomed the leauge and won promotion in the 2002/03 season, im not comparing him to vicente but lets hope our new signing has the same impact...

Indeed he was. Even if Vicente has injury troubles, the prospect of a player of that quality in the stripes is amazing. I can remember marvelling at the ability of the likes of Denis Mortimer in the past and this promises to be far better. Gotsmanov is one name who springs to mind although I don't think he was particularly heralded beforehand. But when you have a player so outrageously talented that you end up grinning from ear to ear several times a game, that's worth the admission money alone.

I spent most of the summer thinking that about the prospect of getting KLL back ... and he's probably now our 4th choice winger.
This really is getting quite unbelievable now.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Merson was much too good for this division when he played for Pompey. Last season Taraabt was clearly too good for the championship, could Vincente be the player who is just too good this season?
When you put it like that it's even more amazing.
As for the Merson parallel I'm not entirely sure it'll be quite the same as that. We have so much quality here now and we have it in depth as well. I always though of Portsmouth with Merson was similar to us with Bobby Zamora when we really we a one man team to be honest. Now we have a superb team with Vicente being icing on the cake. So in that regard he's isn't AS vital as Bobby was to us or as vital as Merson was to Pompey but he's an incredible addition to a fantastic squad.
I'm looking over our team sheet and I just can't see a particular weakness... it's mind blowing.

It is a brilliant signing but I don't think we can judge how good he is considering he hasn't even played a game for us yet
which is why i said lets hope...
