CRUCIAL with polls getting a lot tighter, this could decide the election if someone has a very bad debate.

How this is even a contest is beyond me. Romney and his idiotic running mate are vile; even so, to think that they WILL win the support of some whole states is pretty unbelievable.

Didn't they both recently come up with the agreement, behind closed doors, that they wouldn't directly ask each other questions?

Hardly a debate then, is it?

This reminds me, this site is very good. It ran for our last elections and now is doing the US ones. You tick policies you agree with without knowing which party they come from. The results are interesting...

Vote for Policies - US Presidential Election 2012

very interesting site, if I was an American I would consider myself a staunch democrat but scored 75% Green, 25% Democrat. Interesting that the scores for all surveyed outside of the US, only 9% supported Republican policies!

So who won this one, Bo'B or Mittens.

Even if he get elected I'll never get tired calling him Mittens, assuming we all live long enough to enjoy it.

I'm 50/50, green/democrat. I did the one for our last elections, I think I answered all the possible questions, and was horrified that a tiny bit of Tory sneaked in. An eye-opener!

The reason it is close is perfectly simple - people don't like being out of work. Unemployment is too high in certain swing states on Obama's watch.

Obama's problems:

Unemployment is still running at a scarily high 7.8 per cent, meaning 23million Americans are out of work. Meanwhile, the country’s national debt has risen to a staggering $16TRILLION, up $5trillion from when Obama took over. Factor in a still severely deflated housing market, and petrol prices double what they were in 2008, and it all adds up to a pretty miserable economic picture.

Yes, Romney flip-flops on important issues, but the economy is the big issue and nobody can doubt he's a fantastic businessman.

That’s why Romney can win. His track record as a businessman is better than almost any presidential candidate ever. He also almost single-handedly turned round the fortunes of the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics in 2002, after the organising committee turned to him desperate for help.

I'm not saying he's perfect or any better than Obama but just wanted to point out a few reasons why it's so close.
