Urban Secrets - Brighton

Basically, this is a series where the actor Alan Cumming visits a different UK city each week with the aim of uncovering some of its hidden secrets and lesser known features. This week, he's in our own fair city.

Should be worth a watch.

Speaking of Brighton on the telly, any news on when that Channel 4 thing they were filming at the Amex all last season is going to air?

In what way? Seemed not to from what I was watching.

Sure he said he said North Lanes just the once & then went on to describe the Lanes whilst standing in North Laine. He did spell out Laine correctly though.
I'm nitpicking though, it's ok.

No he just said the meaning of Laine was field for rent and didn't mean Lane.

There's a series they've started running,
will be presented by Alan Cumming

First he goes to down to brighton
sees what odd things go on.

He's off to duke's mound for a bumming

Oh dear, got his Lanes & Laine a bit confused.
Indeed, and he was doing so well.
No he just said the meaning of Laine was field for rent and didn't mean Lane.
He said he was in North Laine, and how far it had come, etc etc. He then said that people mistakenly thought The Lanes got their name from being narrow streets, but 200 years ago it was fields, and the name came from Anglo Saxon field/rent or something.

I'm watching it now, something's being annoying me all the way through the programme. Then I realised - it was Alan Cumming. He spent most of the time sneering at the people he met. The stuff he looked at though were brilliant! Excellent premise for a show, just shame about the presenter.
