At the time, i thought to myself that the withdean would be an ideal permanent ground for Brighton if there were no restrictions, i still believe it would be the best location, much better than falmer. The problem is the athletics track, tennis courts, fitness club etc, if Bha owned the ground there is massive potential and would be a brilliant permanent location due to a huge area to work with, get rid of the athletics track, tennis, fit club, pub etc and build permanent stands along with a new station on the mainline just yards away.

Mr John Catt would have a fit (literally).

The north stand was built as a permanent structure to be left for the athletics club.

no idea but i think the north stand holds about 2,000? which is more than enough for a non-league club, with scope for expansion IF they actually progressed far up the pyramid

Reserves will play there instead of at Lancing.

In my bungalow
I played football dozens of times at withdean in the 80s and i couldn't remember what it looked like all those years back, so it was great to see the old place again.

Thanks for taking the time to post them

They are fantastic to see. Whisper it but when we first moved there, a lot of people absolutely LOVED Withdean and frequently said so on here, probably because it wasn't expected we'd be there as long as we have.

Pork pie land.
I can remember Schools Athletics when it was much worse than that! Sinter track and (as I seem to recall) trees growing through the little terrace.

Everywhere
I can remember there being an old derelict stand which would've been where the south stand turnstiles were, our school team had Withdean as a home pitch for a time.
Would be good if we could use it for our youth teams and the reserves.

When we leave I may just creep in late one night and take a large steaming shit in the centre circle and a piss over the goal line.

And then on my way back from Selhurst I might go and do the same at Withdean.
