I've trawled the wretched Q & A's on the dinosaur that is eBay & can't find the answer. Lets see if somebody here knows?

I'm shortly about to report a £16 item I sold to somebody in the U.S. as unpaid. Its been nine days since the item sold & despite three civil emails after day 5 requesting payment, I've heard nothing. This tosser actually bought something else & paid for the item after he purchased mine which suggests to me he's taking the piss.

Anyway, when I file a 'non payment', can this person potentially still leave negative feedback out of spite if he wishes, whether he pays or not? Seems flawed if he can without actually buying the item. Anyone know the answer?

I'm getting so pissed off with eBay these days after what used to be such a simple format in the beginning.

Yeah s/he can. It's a load of old cock like that.

Last year I sold some tickets and despite numerous emails to the fella the money wasn't forthcoming so after 10 days I sent the guy an email saying not to bother as I was going to re-list the tickets but if he came back to me within a couple of days with a decent excuse I wouldn't leave negative feedback. Got no reply so I left negative feedback.

18 days after the auction ended I get payment for the tickets from which I rejected and sent the payment back to him (even though it was for more than what I ended up selling the tickets for). The **** then left negative feedback against me saying he had had credit card problems.

it depends if he replies to the dispute, if he does not reply and it closes then he cant leave feedback however if he does reply then he can.

I have had a couple of absolute wankers who just reply with a full stop and that is enough, like you I am getting really sick of ebay its really not worth the hassle anymore.

I use eBay daily, when I have had non paying 'buyers' I simply file an unpaid dispute, and then if the 'buyer' doesn't respond I relist the item. On one occasion a buyer left negative feedback I simply brought it to the attention of eBay and they had the feedback deleted.

I really don't understand comments like "eBay is shit" and such like. The only times I have had trouble on it I find the eBay staff really helpful, and they always sort it out, usually really promptly. I think there are some rubbish eBayers out there, both buyers and sellers, but as a model, eBay is pretty hard to beat.

Just file your unpaid dispute, wait the correct amount of time, if he pays, whoop de do, you get your money, if he doesn't then you list it again, and eBay refunds you the costs form the previous time you listed it.

I find Amazon Marketplace preferable. SO much less hassle, no need to sort out money etc, Amazon does it all for you.

Yes they take a cut but for anyone who can't be bothered with the hassle it's really good.

i find one of the only problems is that a seller cant leave negative feedback for a buyer, but the buyer can, stupid really as i would like to see if a buyer gives problems

I've only used eBay once when I tried to buy a CD. The seller pocketed the money and failed to deliver anything. The eBay dispute system was useless, basically saying it was up to me to try to get my money back. It wasn't worth making a legal case about it as it was only £9 but I've just avoided eBay ever since.

Ebay OK only two bad experiences both purchasing.

One was a blatant pile of chinese tat passed off as Samsung MP3 player including a photo of said device so eventually got many back through disputes process, other was just very late to send but claimed personal issues getting divorced etc.

I haven't bought a huge amount on eBay (80) but they have all been successful and I have never had to leave bad feedback. Maybe I'm lucky.

My count is well over 1500 transactions, with only one negative feedback because I forgot (genuine oversight) to mention that the name Keane and number was on the back of a Man U shirt I sold. The buyer said I was wrong to have not indicated that on the listing, so he left negative feedback.

Oh well, that's it, I'm never using eBay again.
