My daughter starts there too, but not going till Sunday.

On Saturday, she will of course be supporting the Mighty Seagulls.

Of course, with a record including those last years at The Goldstone, Hereford, the dark days at Gillingham and the roller coaster years at Withdean, I'm not sure she should be meeting up with an obvious part-timer like you!!!!

I mean why go on Saturday... Freshers Week won't kick off on the first night.....

I'm sure you'll see her around as she's proud to wear the bluewhitestripes....

She's in one of the 'Courts' at Park Wood, can't remember which one....they're self catering houses rather than the colleges (which you are in???) which have canteens, I think.

Btw, I looked you up on the members listing and you've both got the same birthday!!

I hope you both have a really good time....

Apologies for the Smiley. I don't know how it got in there!
Not trying to make a point or anything.
And the part time reference earlier was meant to be a joke as well.

Cheers

I was there 79-82, at Rutherford college, where I met my good friend and lifelong Albion fan John "Fred" Garred (whose username on NSC escapes me at the moment).

When you get time, take a trip out to Herne Bay and visit the Divers Arms and the Dolphin Inn. The Divers was the friendliest pub I've ever known, for students and locals alike. It was a family business for last two generations so I reckon it still could be. The Gate Inn out in the middle of nowhere also did great beer and burgers (if it still does, someone will tell you how to find it).

I had a great time there-enjoy yourself.

I was at UKC, studying Politics & Government, from 1990 to 1993. I was in Keynes College. My tutor was Richard Sakwa, who, I believe, is still shuffling along the precincts of the university.
My favourite pub in Canterbury was the Olive Branch, in the Buttermarket. Like many of the city's public houses, it has been turned into something horribly trendy. The Kentish Cricketers, for example, became Oranges.
I was on the same course, at the same time, as one David Fulton, who is the captain of Kent CCC. (Never name-drop. Mick Jagger told me that.)
When I was there, most of the British students went home at weekends, leaving the students from overseas, mostly from the Orient (not Leyton), to run riot.
Let me know if you want to know more about either UKC or the city. Have a great time.

Border country.East Preston.
I grew up there. My brother (non NSC Gills fan) still works in the shop (David,skinhead,29) ask him for any info you may need.Canterbury is a lovely place, top drawer for pubs, but absolutely shit for everything else late night(why i left for Brighton asap),inc food.Interestingly, one of the only 2 nightclubs is based on the campus,it's new and rocks every night of the week!
The campus is one of the best and beautifully situated i've seen.I think you'll have everything you need and remember Brighton/London only an hour and a half away if you get bored,Saafend it ain't.
I'm going down there the weekend we play that embarrassment of a Kent club.

Enjoy:drink:

Grew up in Ramsgate and was always nipping over there for gigs. Saw U2, The Jam, Teardrop Explodes, The Rich Kids, The Photos, even played in a band and supported Toyah there.

ps: Big advice...don't even think of going to Margate or Ramsgate for a drink, you'd probably get your head kicked in...shitholes!

I have a few mates there. They seem to quite enjoy it.

It doesn't seem to be too bad.

I was at UKC from 1985 to 1988 in Rutherford College. A great 3 years although the town is a bit quiet so you do have to make your own entertainment. Loads of fantastic pubs in the City but also in the surrounding villages. Close enough to London for a good night out and a short enough drive back to Brighton. You'll have a great time. Good luck and don't forget to do at least 2 weeks revision before your finals!
