Voted the 2nd greatest film ever made on imdb with 9.1, its The Shawshank Redemption, is it a cineamtic masterpiece, it took sod all at the box office, just $ 45 000 000 in the USA and less than
£ 3 000 000 here.

It was nominated for 7 oscars but won sod all.

Word of mouth has seen this film escalate into legendary status more so than any other film in history.

Its in my top 10 and gets a 9 from me.

Can this beat Pulp Fictions average 7.5

Jesus, if Empire Magazine told you Gigi was the best film ever you would like it. My advice is watch;

Les I am quoting IMDB mark it does not mean I think " oh imdb has a good mark it must be good " but something that really annoys me is people who think they are intellecturally superior by not liking something lots of other people do, ie 67% of people gave this 8 + but Stumpy knows better than all these people and I am a fool for liking the film.

Les you sound like the sort of bloke who thinks if it has subtitles it must be a work of genious, you can do better than that come down to the masses old son

Its a brilliant film because it has everything. 10/10 still watch it every now and again, brilliant acting, brilliantly put together.

US I would say half of those films are very well known. So you are suggesting that its best to watch films that the masses think are good?

Fairly formulaic prison story.

The twist, which, tends to make the film for most people, was, for me, predictable and uninteresting.

I like the alternative ending where Andy Dufresne gets gunned down.

Unneccesary sex scene at the beginning and all that bollocks with those two gay rapists in the slammer (do we really have to see/hear THAT much!?) ruins an otherwise, ok film.
