Uncle Sam's is poor-especially the one in Shoreham. Crap service the last three times I've been there and the food isn't that great. Sorry! It used to be the best around but they're going down the cheap ingredients route. And they've got the nerve to charge for ketchup for crying out loud!!!

Add to that powdered instant coffee and you've got a bad food experience. I can see why there are only one or two left...

I went back three times in the forlorn hope that the bad experience was a temporary glitch. It wasn't. I won't be going back.

Now when there was only one Uncle Sam's in Brighton.......

Nooooooooo! Don't tell me Uncle Sam's has gone downhill! It used to be an important part of a trip to Brighton, earliest memories being of the one in Hove. Still taste the chilli sauce (what a bite!) and the sweet banana shake.

You clearly have not sampled the delights of Harvey's-Canada's very own and not available anywhere else! Best burgers, best fries, best POUTINE and best onion rings by a mile. Burgers built to your specifications-exactly as you like 'em.

The Burgess Hill one is still as good as ever as far as I can tell.

The one down London Road in Brighton used to be a regular stop off on the way home when I lived in Brighton, and I was sad to see that it had gone last time I tried to get a burger there.

I used to think Burger King ran them close for quality, but since they changed their chips, Uncle Sams has been the No 1 by miles.

I don't recall seeing it when I was on my burger hunt recently. Ended up with a kebab!

Uncle Sams in Burgess Hill is still ok. Much better than McDonalds because:

1. Burgers are bigger
2. Chips are edible
3. Your food is hot
4. There are no traces of semen and faeces in your burger!

I think Grubbs moved along London Road a bit and took over the old Uncle Sam's premises. Might be wrong.

I accidentally hijacked a 'Are Subway Taking Over Brighton' thread about a week ago by mourning the passing of Uncle Sams. Turned out loads of people thought they were the bee's bollocks also. I'll try and dig out the link.

After eating at both MacDonalds and Burger King some time ago. I vowed never to such junk food again.
However, I can confirm that the Uncle Sam's in Woodingdean is excellent fast food.

I love uncle sams. A visit there and to Uncle Jim's Kebabs in Worthing is a must for me on every visit home.

re cheaper ingredients though, I did once see the manager of US in shoreham walking in with a whole load of reduced lettuces from Asda on my last visit.
