Germany could receive up to 1.5 million asylum-seekers this year, according to a newspaper quoting a confidential document containing estimates that are far higher than publicly released official figures.

Authorities have so far predicted that Europe's biggest economy would record between 800,000 and one million new arrivals in 2015.

But Bild paper quoted the document saying that the authorities were now expecting to receive 920,000 new arrivals in the coming three months alone, bringing the total number of asylum-seekers this year to 1.5 million.

"The migratory pressure will increase. For the fourth quarter, we expect between 7,000 and 10,000 illegal entries a day," according to extracts of the document, although Bild did not specify its source.

The document said: "The significant number of asylum-seekers risks becoming an extreme burden for the regions and communes."

The newspaper also quoted the document estimating that each asylum-seeker who successfully obtained refugee status could bring on average "four to eight" family members to Germany.

On the basis of the preliminary forecast of 920,000 refugees, some "7.36 million people" could therefore have the right to move to Germany due to family ties.

Chancellor Angela Merkel has been lauded worldwide for her decision to open Germany's doors to refugees fleeing war and misery.

But within Germany, her popularity is starting to wane as local authorities struggle to cope with the massive task of hosting the record surge in refugees.

Many of those who come to Germany and other EU state arrive after arduous trips that can involve being on overcrowded boats in the Mediterranean.

Yeah and it's these idiot far left groups that are as ignorant as anyone....They march and protest about cuts etc and don't realise that 10's of billions every year disappear out of this country into the abyss of Europe and the rest of the world....Do you want us giving money to foreigners and refuges or do you want money staying here to prevent these cuts?clueless unwashed bellends.
If we didn't send our tax payers billions abroad in astronomical numbers then this country would actually have money to spend on its own hardworking people.
The plan is to swamp this country with cheap labour without building the infrastructure that's required to cope with it....Get everyone working and get everyone paying tax and then amazingly ship our money into the EU and worldwide abyss.

For a so called booming country you do fear for it in the very near future....cuts cuts cuts and they find 100 million for the refuges and this never ends unreal.
Look at Cameron and his pathetic stance at the EU summit."This is British tax payers money and we won't pay the 2 billion bla bla bla bla"....Two weeks later he paid that 2 billion and funny how quiet it's been since his comments as nothing's hardly been mentioned since.
Pathetic weak man who is taking the people of this country for absolute mugs full stop....Keep the British tax payers money in the UK and we will progress.
spot on

At last, the penny has dropped.

She talks a good game but presides over a system letting in net 300k + last year. I think the Conservative leadership have one last chance with the pre referendum negotiations. If they fail to get any real concessions on border controls/limiting free movement of people an out vote becomes a real possibility.

David Cameron is a poodle and a nodding dog when he talks with Angela merkel and he has no chance of renegotiation of treaty change as she is reincarnation of Hitler.

She's Hitler youth.

First, are you sure that it actually is her? Also, this is not a picture of the Hitler Youth, but rather the post-war communist youth movement. Much has been made of these youth movements, particularly the former, but in most cases, the reality was no different to that of say the scouts here and elsewhere. Once the Nazis took over, all other organisations were banned, and so existing youth movements were simply given the name of Hitlerjugend and carried on as normal, albeit with varying degrees of indoctrination. Parents were "encouraged" to send their children to the Hitlerjugend, and if not, you soon got a visit from the "Blockwart" (caretaker/snooper/informer in the area) so on hearing that someone was in the Hitlerjugend, it does not necessarily mean that they were fanatical nazis, and so I suppose you could say the same for the later East German equivalent. Indeed, in the case of the latter, given that most East Germans turned their arials round to receive West German TV, the regime had to be careful to avoid ultra naked propaganda, which the locked-in inhabitants could clearly see was false.

Did you mean Pope Benedict?

Yes, you are right in that he too was in the Hitler Youth, and I recall the British press being aghast at this when his appointment was made. It does not necessarily mean a lot, though. This is NOT to apologise for dictatorship or Nazism, just that in a dictatorship, one is faced with choices that we do not have nearly to the same extent - do you actively campaign against the regime and face all sorts of dangers or just go along with it, as it is the easier and safer option. In the 30s, there would not have been any help from eg Amnesty International, or any social media outlets - you were on your own, if you resisted. Apart from active enthusiasts, most folk chose to be what the Germans call "mitlaufer" (run with it), which of course also came into focus in the post-war East Germany.

As you said earlier. All kids went into the HY. Its common knowledge. I met a guy when I worked in Frankfurt who told me he was. It means very little, especially with kids brainwashed from 1933 onwards.

Deliberate policy to keep the housing market inflated which is pretty much was most voters care about. People who own a property are duped into thinking that owning makes you rich.
