Anyone see the Newsnight last night. Only half the people claiming asylum in Germany are from Syria, it's no surprise really we could have seen that coming, then on the local news they where speaking migrants at Calais. Some said we don't need food, we don't need clothes their old, all we want is for the borders to open. They also showed a pile of clothes donated by people up in flames.

Which is why the government have it right. They are helping out with the humanitarian crisis in Syria, by assisting with those who have the most need, those in the camps on the Turkish border. Just opening up the borders and letting people in is NOT the right answer.

Im just glad that we've managed to clear the waiting lists for social housing , we must have or where on earth are we going to put the 20,000 refugees?

If the security forces and those in other countries were unable to stop many worldwide atrocities, why would you then conclude that any increased risk would not somehow be converted into a greater probability of an attack actually happening ?

This year the head of M15 said that 'we cannot stop every UK terror threat' and that the UK was facing 'more complex and ambitious plots', I am sure there is much concern by the security services with the influx of 100 000's unknown Syrians within the Europe, it would be madness not to even acknowledge the threat.

But it seems you and others have a blindspot to anything other than fully accepting an undetermined amount of refugees without much thought to its consequence.

You know what, I've never once stated my opinion on our accepting of refugees on this thread. You and others (not everyone) continue to label everyone who disagrees with any of your individual points or opinion with the same brush, constantly trying to label people into convenient groups.

So as per normal, rather than just address the point, you overreact, invent an opinion I haven't yet given.

Is me not stating that our security forces would be addressing the threat and taking appropriate measures not acknowledging the threat!?

What you need to try to do is address each opinion or post as a separate entity. Not everyone who dares question or disagree with you is of the same opinion.

I would imagine far greater minds than yours are working on it. You can sleep tight in HH.

Here's a petition to accept more asylum seekers and increase support for refugee migrants in the UK. Feel free to sign it if
1) You think it will do any good (over 200,000 so far think it will), and
2) You know Britain is not "full".

Looks like they half arsed listened after all. Some say they tempered it with 10 day old 'foreigner so called British trying to kill us' news, but that's probably pushing it.

The waiting lists are people that are housed, just not in a permanent property they can call their own. Councils provide housing through a variety of RSL's and the private sector, the private sector of course being expensive and not a long term solution.

Housing refugees will not impact on the social housing waiting lists as they will need to be housed in whatever emergency housing councils can find, whether private, short tenancy stock, or various other agencies that can provide accommodation.

Mixing a shortage of purpose built social housing for permanent tenants with emergency housing for refugees is just a misleading headline. Government data suggests we do have 600,000 empty homes in the uk, with 200,000 of those long term vacant (unoccupied for 6 months or more). The issue is cost to provide accommodation to refugees, not the actual availability.

Havent got a clue what most of that means on your view towards me, but you quite clearly said that the security service would negate the increased risk from any influx from the Syrian refugees, they clearly cannot.

Yes , because for example , a bus driver who lives in Lambeth and earns 25k a year will manage that rather easily wont he , you've shown extreme stupidity in the past, but this takes the biscuit, you're an idiot.

This is your problem. You make a statement clearly heavily biased towards your prejudices. Someone else counters your statement with facts and researched data. Your response? "Don't ****ing believe that bollocks do you?".

You couldn't make it up. Oh, you have.

The trouble with your post is that i havent made it up, i lived in a block of mixed social and privately rented flats, several of them housed ''asylum seekers'' one of whom fled from congo''in fear of his life'' , he cant have been that scared though, as he went back there on holiday at least 3 times while i lived there , several of the flats were also supposed to be occupied by asylum seekers , however they were sub let to other immigrants , a pisstake in other words , however i'll bow to the superiopr knowledge of bold seagull, telling it how it is........from caffe nero in hove , from behind a copy of the independent .

Really!!?? That is clearly what I said is it? You just jump from making one made up conclusion to the next.

Would be hoping that MI5 and our security forces and agencies are keeping the government abreast of the risks and taking appropriate measures. Are you aware of risks beyond what they're presumably preparing for?

Those risks that are 'beyond what they are presumably preparing for' are the threats that the MI5 admit they cannot counter, thats the point.
