So what ?? I've never bought into the idea that mentioning WW2 is some sort of cop out , WW2 was a seismic event in this country's pretty recent history and its fall out brought about much needed social changes , not to mention changes in the attitude and mindset of the general public as well.
Our grandparents and great grandparents went through a long hard 5 years of war, suffering conditions that puts todays ''austerity'' into perspective, in the main , people fought to stop this country being invaded by the germans, it wasnt some idealistic fight against fascism as some would have you believe ,my grandad was badly wounded at el alamein , what was the end result ? to have someone like you sneer at a mention of it , the same person who came on here telling everyone that you were ''shaking and worried'' when your son did what small boys do ,I.E knocked a tooth out , how do you reckon you'd have got on at el alamein ? You great big jessie..........

To be fair it is just some no named person going on a long ramble trying to make a point with sixteen paragraphs too many and getting lost along the way. Referring to Lady Diana doesn't really help understanding The Syrian Refugee Crisis as titled.

Yep, i put this photo up yesterday plus a VIEW that all may not be as it seems re this death, it was picked up by DIP who stated it was "racist propaganda".....well it may be propaganda, which is why i posted "Might be, just as this might be." in return to a similar post.
I also stated "This is probably rubbish as well." when posting about the funeral and how it took place two days after when a plane managed to take the father back into war torn Syria.
It might be propaganda, the same as the theories on the 9/11, the landing on the moon etc.............but "racist" propaganda is a different thing.

So yes Mustafa, this could be " a deliberate act of social engineering by the mainstream media and powers that be" or not, seems there MIGHT be more to this sad death/s than meets the eye.

The story you posted about the funeral of the little boy may well be true, I have no idea. The fact that you found and linked to that story on a supposed news website whose content is hardly balanced, only seems to run stories about "non-white invaders", has an extraordinary editorial policy and has an "about us" page that says nothing about who they are or how to contact them, rather weakens it's effect.

Sneering at the context this seismic event was being used for to back up an argument regarding our supposed loss of stiff upper lip, tracing our stoic defence in battle to the loss of Princess Diana as some kind of fatal loss of Britishness.

Perhaps your Grandad, or mine, or whoever fought so bravely would also take issue with their bravery being used for anti immigration sentiment and propaganda right now. As well you know WWII didn't start with us fighting to stop the Germans invading Britain, it started with us supporting our European allies.

When you say we are rich and privileged, I suspect you mean the Royal we, as it is a irrefutable fact that there are many millions of people who live in chastening poverty here in the UK.......as they did in the industrial revolution.

I think the vast majority of these people who are currently living in chastening poverty, and who are (for example) amongst the 1.8m in England who are waiting for social housing may have a materially different view to you about their wealth and privilege.

It would be good if the BBC and other media sources would canvass these people's opinion on this subject, I have yet to hear what they have to say.

The demographic who appear to be on TV the most and who are in rapture about the prospect of the UK receiving thousands of refugees for the existing UK poor to fight it out with in terms of who can get access to the already scarce resources (like social housing support) are predominantly wealthy middle class liberals.........social democrats. Capitalists masquerading as socialists.

This smug supercilious attitude of people like you reminds me of Bellotti, when he told BHA fans to "stop whining" when the protests started following the announcement of us playing in Portsmouth was made.

Happy for all to have views, i dont see it as moaning, i just disagree and putting my point forward. But great to see Cameron agreeing with me in his announcement today. We have a different view on the number but direct is the same.

No one is living in the same poverty as they were during the industrial revolution. One fact, life expectancy was county in 30 years.
