The 2025 UEFA European U-21 Championship Finals get underway today in Slovakia. England are the defending champions having won the tournament two years ago in Georgia/Romania.

Jack Hinshelwood and James Beadle are in the England squad who get their tournament underway tomorrow against the Czech Republic. England are in the same group (Group B) as Germany with Brajan Gruda in their squad. The Germans face Slovenia, also tomorrow.

Diego Coppola, who is expected to sign for Albion, has joined the Italian squad after playing twice for the senior team during this international break. Italy are in action later today against Romania.

So We’ve got an Italian international (nearly) on the books that I hadn’t even heard about.
This is a long way from Stafford Browne era.

Are England defending champions in that this same group of players won their age group euros two years ago (at U19)? Or did the U21s of two years ago win the U21 tournament?
