I am struggling to believe this but -

Nedved yellow card stands

Uefa has rejected the Czech Republic's request to review the yellow card that captain Pavel Nedved received against Denmark in the quarter-finals.
Nedved was cautioned for fouling Danish winger Jesper Gronkjaer, but most observers felt the Dane had dived.

And the Czechs asked Uefa "to have another look at the film evidence and reconsider" the incident.

But Uefa denied the move and Nedved will be banned for the final if he is booked again in the semi-finals.

The Juventus star missed last year's Champions League final because of suspension but will not be rested by Czech coach Karol Bruckner.

Bruckner admitted: "He will play against Greece, of course. We can't play without him."

Nedved said: "I know I have to be very careful or I could miss the final - if we go through.

"But also I know that it is a tough match in the semi-finals and it is difficult because there is a lot of pressure.

"I want to give a total performance, with full commitment, and it is difficult to be very careful when you feel like this.

"I want to be running and running but I know I need to tread softly."

In a sane world Gronkjaer would be suspended and Nedved would have the card rescinded. WTF

Quite right, but in a world run by the muppets at UEFA what more would you expect.

Gronkjaer should be ashamed of himself. I hope he leaves these shores and takes his cheating bag of tricks with him. There is no place in our game for down right cheats.

UEFA as always stand for Fair Play, just a shame they never enforce it. Too busy eating prawn sarnies.

The story I read yesterday on the BBC said that the Czechs had decided not to appeal against it.

The story's now changed slightly, but if you read the actual words, it seems to be implying that the Czechs didn't appeal "But Uefa denied the move" could (and probably does) mean that there was no formal appeal. I don't understand why not - it was a blatant dive.

If I could bring one law into football, it would be to ban players if video evidence revealed diving. A six match ban or two, might stamp the practice out.

Gronkjaer is a cheating, scheming little weasel who should have been punished retrospectively for his blatant dive. The camera's also caught him pulling Nedveds hair immediatly after the incident - clearly trying to provoke a reaction from Nedved to get him sent off.

If UEFA are not bothered about actually imposing their ideas of "Fair Play" on the game, then whats the point of the players wearing that dopey yellow badge on their arms ? It obviously means absolutely nothing to anyone.

UEFA clamping down hard on the diving cheats as usual. We'll be rid of them in no time at this rate :jester:

The amount of diving, and the referees' insistence on not punishing it except in the penalty area, has soured what has otherwise been a good tournament.

As stated before, UEFA is not interested in the good of the game, only in becoming a money-grabbing powermonger to challenge the other money-grabbing powermonger, FIFA.

If it was interested in the good of the game, it would not have threatened England with expulsion whe Turkey has a FAR worse record. They would have let last minute tickets go cheaply to those who wanted to attend. And it would have not insisted on taking the 'Marvellous Scenes' banner down, because they 'had not heard of Brighton & Hove Albion, and thought that it was advertising'.

OK, fine, so the Czechs decided not to appeal the yellow card; however, if UEFA can investigate someone for spitting without a complaint (oh dear, I seem to be going on about this again...), why can't they do it for CHEATS?
