We had Barnes as well as Walton. If we 'swoop' for either of those 2 exciting youth players will they officially become our feeder club :p

In all seriousness though they have a great set up and I do think it would be a sensible place to send likes of March or Ince if we want them to break through NEXT season.

Mmmm wonder why you noticed this from? My tweets maybe?

He's very highly rated I watched him play against local teams in the Plymouth area last season and his movement is 1st class. He scored a lot of goals in youth football and even managed 1 for the 1st team,His old man Lee was a decent local striker in the south west leagues for a number of years

I think that Portsmouth will have something to say about that.

The manager is already banging on about the board needing to release more funds into the playing budget so he can bring in 3 decent players to secure promotion. When will they learn about the economics of running a football club ?

To give some of your reaction to the Herald article a wee bit of context I should explain something. The Plymouth Evening Herald comments section is less of a means to impart pearls of wisdom on any given subject, and more of a means to deprive outlying villages of their idiots :hilton:

I'd imagine the Argus comments section attracts a similar strain of window licker although i've never looked.

That said there is a lot of ignorance down there. We (and that's the royal 'we', not me) do seem overly pre-occupied with size (Freud would have a field day with Argyle fans and their apparent penis envy) but yer average Janner Joe is convinced that as clubs Argyle and Albion are on a par. I don't know what it's based on but whenever BHA comes up in one of these 'knob comparison' threads on PASOTI I do have a right effort sometimes to explain quite how advanced the Amex revolution is.

So, you want to steal some more of our children do you?

We've been a good hunting ground in recent years for you and I can see why you'd still keep an eye. Thing is, despite our still reduced circumstances we're by no means the basket case administration bound shell of a club we were when you took Barnes and especially Noone. Walton was a slightly different case as it was easier to let him go, with appropriate but not excessive renumeration, because being a keeper it would have taken a very long time for him to hit our first team.

Tyler Harvey is a different kettle of fish. He's just signed his first pro contract so he's more protected contractually and we've already turned down six figures from Cardiff. They, like you, got a bargain when they took (advantage of us?) Joe Mason two seasons back and have clearly also realised what a decent production line of young talent we can produce.

He's a good prospect, in what should be the premium playing position and we're now in a much better position to say no. Consequently I wouldn't rule anything out, we will have a price, but it'll be waaaay more than the £60k for Barnes and £150k for Noone (of the top of my head).

The other name mentioned is River Allen (god that's a stupid name, as is Tyler TBH). I know less about him as he's not hit the first team at all yet but reports are very promising, more of an attacking midfielder. He's younger and not on a pro-deal but again, prices will be higher now our footing is stronger.

Personally I think we should say no to you unless a stupid offer is made. We're starting from scratch pretty much and as you can see from that article link with Ryan Lane too we have a good crop of youngsters. They'll get more of a chance with us and we'll do better with them than what we'd get from the transfer market as we still can't spend big.

So there you go, in the nicest possible way between friends, do one!!

Thanks for the heads up...although reading it I can't help but think sign him up. Should I put PAFC in my divisional winners accumulator?

No.

It'll be better, much much better than the last five seasons which I think is something like 20th, relegated, relegated, 20th, 21st :shootself

Under John Sheridan we finished last season in play-off form, he's been a breath of 'no nonsense' fresh air. We've been able to sign players from other clubs and that other clubs actually WANT for a change. So having existed on cast-offs, free agents, youth loans and firemen from the League of Wales (sweet baby Jesus  ) things are definately looking up.

Might be worth a cheeky outside bet for promotion via the play-offs, but only because the odds should be good. Consensus our end is top half, which will nonetheless seem orgasmic!

But hey, come and have a look for yourselves maybe. Dunno whether Albion have a game on the third but we're at Saarfend and we always enjoy having you lot aboard (we'll always have Accrington  )

Good luck for next season. Never say never but I reckon for many many years the best chance we have of enjoying the Premiership is vicariously through our association with yourselves, so go for it.

Disagree, i went to 2 games pre Sheridan and to be kind it was very poor
I went to 2 games with Sheridan in charge, i was very impressed, very confident on the ball, good passing, each player comfortable in there posistion, against Exeter it was easily league 1 football, you never looked like losing
Your problem is replacing Basera, he was different gravy
As i said earlier Brizzle Rovers i think will win it, but if you play the way you did last year under Sheridan you are in with a shout of the play offs, i will be going to a few games with my Green mates again this season

Cheers, I might have a look at Plymouth in the handicap betting.

Interesting post, having seen the Albion in a similar position I know how irritating it is to have your players cherry picked. We were lucky though...we didn't have many worth nicking
