People still make jokes about the Germans gassing Jews, can anyone honestly say that they are surprised if the horrific events of the Tsunami don't make it into humour?

In all seriousness, I was in the car the day before yesterday, Radio 5 had blanket coverage of the disaster, whoever the presenter was at the time had severe difficulty pronouncing Tsunami and it did sound far more like "toon army".

i realise you're not laughing at this:

no humour should be associated with this.
as for the germans gassing the jews, maybe these sickos should take a guided tour round auschwitz.
i've been there and it was one of the most sobering experiences of my life.

its a silent T so it does'nt really sound that much like Toon Army, speaking of bad taste, I heard the hotdog seller asking who ordered two jumbos the night of the Twin Towers attack!

Anyway someone put in a couple of quid in a bucket on my behalf.

It's the fact that some fans came on here to ask us for help for a great cause and everyone took the piss that gets me! I thought we had a reputation for helping others.

oh well my ticket for spurs should keep me happy.

i love these internet do gooders wonder how much they have pledged to help or what other work they do for charity,
and sometimes the only way that people can deal with grief is to make a joke out of it.

other wise we'd all be in constant misery,

but hey thats what you get from a small proportion of this board

It amazes me how people use the term do-gooders in a negative way. Would you rather they did bad?

Surely a Seig Heil / Seagulls-type misunderstanding. Or an urban myth. Find it hard to believe anybody would do that. Certainly not anybody who saw the set of three pictures on the front page of The Mirror this morning.

Photo 1 - The tsunami is about a mile out. Most individuals on the beach are running away from the beach as fast as they can. A lady in a bikini however is running towards her family who are on the waterline.

Photo 2 - The tsunami is about half a mile out. There's two teenage girl's just looking at the thing, like they can't quite take in what is happening. The lady in the bikini continues runnig towards her family on the waterline.

Photo 3 - The tsunami is about a hundred yards away. Maybe less. It's as high as a house. The lady in the bikini is about twenty yards from her family - dad and two young teen kids. She's still running towards them.

Utterly heartbreaking.

yes freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, so anyone who makes a joke of this disaster, is a complete and utter w**k**. I have friends out there and we are still trying to contact them. Maybe I will post this thread to the relatives of the people who have died or are missing.

You do not deserve to support the be part of the best supporters in the UK, words fail me....

Tom Hark, I saw those pictures in another paper, I was wondering what happened to her and whether she survived, perhaps we will never know. I read some accounts in the paper today of different individuals who had lost their lives, it just reinforced how powerful and indiscriminate an event like this can be, no respect for age or nationality, for me it trivialises some of the petty arguments that rage around the world.

If anything good can come from something so terrible then I hope it forces our leaders, and those of different groups around the World, to take a good look at themselves and their individual motives and how trivial they really are in the grand scheme of things.

Would love to see it, but I think it will result in deferent leaders / countries trying to score points of each other buy the amount of money and aid that they send.

Sorry to hear that mate, my thoughts are with you. I hope your friends are safe.

Getting back to the original point of the thread if there is a bucket outside the away end Finney, I'll be more than happy to bung a few quid into it. Good luck with your collection, I' m sure it will be well supported.

Honestly how some people want to make a cheap joke or petty point out of a tragedy really is beyond me.
