Recent Texas poll gives Biden a slight edge.

I think it would still be quite a shock, but if Texas turned blue, it could spell the end of the GOP for decades. That's not hyperbole.

Trump 2020

One of many rallies

One of many opportunities to keep those covid cases coming. Never mind a red wave, the US is on the cusp of its THIRD wave

But hey, definitely not Trumpo's fault – he knows better than the scientists. Hell, he's even had it (so is now immune) and knows more about it than them anyway...

MAGA

Make America Great Again. So what's keeping him? He's had four years to achieve this, but it is still a mess.

The irony of your signature from Tolstoy.

he was doing ok until some lunatic waxed GF and the ensuing civil bedlam .....America is a basket case , Kanye West could be POTUS in 8 years ....imagine that ffs.

Little Miss Stat is off due to Covid and I'm listening to her zoomed 1933 Germany history lesson.

Her teacher is approaching it as "Make Germany Great Again" while only discussing "The Nazi's" and "the Nazi party".

Am I right to be a little off at this approach?

This is slightly misleading. While much of the Nazi rhetoric was talking about greater Germany, the over-riding theme was the recovey from the harsh reparations of the Versailles Treaty. There's a big contrast between Germany in 1933, which had been humiliated by the Allies, a situation that was ripe for exploitation by a skilled propagandist. There are historians, most prominently AJP Taylor, who think that rise of Hitler and WW2 was primarily due to western actions.

Hitler rarely used the phrase "Make Germany great again" although he did occasionally. But that was just before and during the war, not in 1933.

That's not the case with the US, which has never lost its economic power, MAGA was just empty sloganising.

I only lasted about 10 minutes as the lesson was littered with 'just like Trump' and no mention of The National Socialist Party.

It all felt a little loaded, lazy and mixed.

Although that said after writing my post I remembered a couple of weeks ago a friend and colleague asked for a history lesson having just watched something on D-Day.

I proceeded to go from WWII to voting for Brexit in about 2 sentences, so I guess I can't really give the lesson a stink-eye, after all.

Exxon being forced onto twitter to deny they have been bribing Trump for permits...
Not a great advert for that swamp draining service eh?

Every day it gets EVEN more extraordinary to me that this man is President and that almost half of America thinks this is OK

Trump still trollin'

I've got a theory that he's had enough and doesn't really want to do another four years. He is now (more than ever) just doing and saying whatever he wants and whatever he thinks his 'fans' want him to.

For him, as I've said before, it was all about having the title of President, not actually BEING President. However, he'll make just as much noise out of office as he does in. Whether that's next January or January 2025. No one will EVER be as good a president as him...

So he's literally just soliciting bribes out in the open.
