I'm off to Prague with the wife tomorrow for 4 days, so would be interested to hear from people who've been to the city re good pubs / restaurants / tourist sites / any other stuff.

Cheers.

as 10cc say, not in hove
just off the main square there is a road which runs along to a tower. on said road is a shop which sells those cute little russian dolls, including a set of brighton & hove albion players.

cost about a tenner.

perfect christmas gift!

Stick to the old town square (where the astronimical clock is, make sure you are there on the hour, you will probably see the crowds) and the side streets around it. The castle on the hill to the north of the city is well worth a visit, excellent views of the city especially if you go up to the top of the cathedral tower. The Charles bridge and probably a boat trip on the river. The Jewish quarter is quite interesting too. There is an observation tower on the hill to the west, kind of like a mini eiffel tower and is not recommended if you are scared of heights!

Wenceslas square is mostly shops in the day and seedy bars and strip shows at night. If its just you and the wife you will probably be safe from the bar owners and drug dealers who decend on groups of young lads!

That should fill up 4 days! Hope it helps, remember to drink plenty of cheap 'Pivo' :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

The market is good as well there. There are hundreds of hot dog places about which are dirt cheap.Head out of town a short distance and you should get a pint of beer for 30p-50p.Skoda cars are everywhere.By the sqaure there is also a museum worth a look

Cheers for this guys, good stuff.

Apparently the Christmas market will be on, the wife's looking forward to that though I haven't got a clue what it's like. We're also meeting up with 2 of her UK female friends on our last day so we'll need to find a decent restaurant.

wherever the money is
this time of year they usually have live music in the main square and there will be Christmas markets everywhere. agree about going off the square for pubs. At the bottom of the square take a right instead of going towards Charles bridge and there is a lovely restaurant called the Pelican that do local food and have folk music and dancing while you eat which is real cool.

The best phrase in Czech you can know is: "Dva piva prosim."

Now edited to correct my apparently dreadful Czech grammar... ;)

"pivo" if it's one beer you're after, "piva" if it's two, three, or four; weirdly, "pif" if it's five. They're an odd lot, the Czechs.

In the strip club we went to, there was a lesbian show with dildos and stuff. Can't remember what the place was called though.
