Travelling to Crawley during rush hour

If google maps says it takes 40 minutes to get to Crawley from Lancing, realistically how long will it take in the morning during rush hour to get to Crawley for 9.00am? and then leaving Crawley at 5.00pm how long does it take to get back?

Possible new job but need to know due to child care issues ta.

To be honest, the only area you will have trouble is before shoreham airport and arriving into Crawley, allow 20-30 minutes extra

Handcross Hill work begins in ernest in Spring which is gonna cause excessive hypertension amongst the type of people who can't bear their own company. Prob going to add an extra 15 mins each way onto the journey.

Depends how far into Crawley you need to get. Sometimes queuing traffic off the M23 just get onto the dual carraigeway approaching Three Bridges/Ramada Hotel.
I tend to find the school rush time (7:45-8:15) is the worst time to be going through Crawley/Three Bridges.

This, go the country lanes route. I go Cuckfield --> Staplefield --> Handcross and join the a23 at the weighbridge or Cuckfield --> Balcombe --> Crawley depending on which part of Crawley you need. stay well clear of the Ramada roundabout at 9am youll be there for ages!

Takes me an hour from worthing i leave at 7.15 to avoid getting stuck in traffic. Takes about the same getting home.
