Tranmere have sacked manager Ray Mathias and his assistant Kelham O'Hanlon.

The pair have been released from their contracts with immediate effect.

John McMahon will take temporary charge for Tuesday's match against Wycombe.

Rovers have taken action following today's Division Two defeat at home to near neighbours Wrexham.

McMahon will remain in a caretaker role until a permanent replacement for Mathias is found.

Rovers are currently fifth from bottom of the table with only one win from their opening 10 matches.

Coppell to Tranmere? He's being linked with everyone else!
