Not really, they have to provide alternative means of transport.

The problem is people are up in arms when the trains fall off the tracks due to poor track maintenance, yet moan when they are inconvienced due to track maintenance work.

It is not happening next weekend.

Do it during the week and you piss your core customers off, at weekends in theory the network is used less.
