I think Gus is about to reach his ceiling at Soonderland, standby!

Is it possible to have a single unrelated to Gus thread without someone posting this kind of bitter old nonsense?

Soldado has to be the second worst signing in premiership history, after andy Carroll.

Woah steady there he's only had four months  Though having said that losing 6-0 after all that investment is frankly staggering. The backwards steps taken by a team I had nailed on for a top four spot is quite alarming for any Spurs fans

Irrespective of today, that is clearly ridiculous.

Dwight Gayle, Marouane Chamakh, Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba....there are four FAR worse ones than either of those you name.

Have Spurs actually done anything much since the early sixties? Looks like this won't be the season to spoil their proud record of half a century's under-achievement either

Let's not forget the powerhouse that was Titus Bramble, the equally thunderous talents of Bendtner and of course the Ivorian Ronaldo; Gervinho

None of those players really made much discernible difference to where their team finished though, nor in comparative terms did their club pay a fortune for them, other than the possible exception of Gervinho. Whereas with Soldado, Spurs spent £2 million more on him than Manchester United paid for Robin Van Persie for a player who is only really a fringe player for Spain and so far most of his goals for Spurs have been scored from 12 yards. And with Andy Carroll, Allardyce blew all of his transfer budget on an injury prone player who has been out since the start of the season, resulting in him having no money to spend on alternatives, meaning his team has failed to score goals and he's had to play a midfielder in an advanced position which hasn't worked and has left his team in the relegation zone.

I recall many Spurs fans creaming themselves during the summer after they spent big.

They will always be a tinpot club in Arsenal's shadow.

If you want to take from when England won the World Cup...then the FA Cup in 1967, 1981, 1982 and 1991. The League Cup in 1971, 1973, 1999 and 2008 and the UEFA Cup in 1972 and 1984. Nothing much really...

Any Spurs fan will tell you their best signing this summer and best defender this season has been Vlad Chiriches. Therefore, it seemed an illogical decision for AVB to rest him and leave him on the bench against the team that has the best front 2 in the Premier League. That would appear to have been proven by today's result.
