Top Goalkeeper currently without a club

With lack of keeper strength in depth. Had a search and German International (7 caps) Timo Hildebrand is without a club and available on a free having been released by Sporting Lisbon.

He was also at Valencia so will know Vicente...... top top keeper, bags of personalilty and commands his area.

Of course it aint likely to happen....... but we could sign him tomorrow in theory,

could we afford his wages?

The issue we have at the moment is we have 4 keepers under contract at the moment so I cant see us singing another one. I think that they are all out of contract at the end of this season and I expect (would like to see) wholesale changes!

I agree, however I have a feeling we are sticking with Ankergren till next May.

He didn't play for Sporting according to wiki. Bloom plays poker so must know you need a good hand to win. Worth the wages in my opinion.

A top keeper yes, better than what we have yes.

He could be expensive, and the language barrier could be a problem i can imagine our back four not being the easiest to communicate with. I would have thought he would know some english but if he doesn't then we could have a problem.

Saying that i would take him on a 1 year contract, if he gets in the team and plays well then great, if he turns out to be a flop then i am sure the dev squads keepers could do with a bit of extra mentoring.

unfortunately, so do I. he was at fault partially for Leeds 3rd. palace second he was terrible and he missed a corner completely. he's going to lose us points for sure over a better keeper.

Whilst not disagreeing with you about looking at him either as No 1 or to put pressure on Casper, which Brezovan and Poke dont do, a video could be made up of any goalkeeper as they will all make decent saves at some time but it is the mistakes that they make thatare costly and they dont go on a video if he is trying to find a club.

At the start of the season I would have said he's far too good for us and way to expensive.

Then we signed Vicente and CMS.

He'd be incredible, but just can't see it happening.

Brez and poke are a lot worse than ankergren. Ankergren is the best we have at the moment.

Whilst you make a valid point there can be no question at all that Hildebrand isn't good enough for us surely?!

I think that he probably is but Gus is happy with Casper it seems and I think that it is unlikely he would bring in a another keepr as No 1 but is likely to do so as competition for Casper and to keep him on his toes and then see how the situation evolves. Obviously Gus does not see Brezovan or Poke as No 1 but adequate back up in an emergency the problem there is iof Casper got injured or sent off early on either would have to play nearly a game. Mind you a keeper can do immense damage in a matter of minutes so perhaps I am aguing against myself.

this...... I remember seeing him for valencia and he looked very good..... not sure though how good he'd be passing with his feet, which is important in our 'keeper sweeper' style of play. But goalkeeping ability he's massively better than Ankergren.
