The worst list is much better. Although Torque was far too high on it, about 50th worst last time I checked. It is by far THE worst film ever made.

imdb is my bible. Most films have up to 100000 votes so the average tell a story of whether a film is much cop. In the top 10 however I would only have Schindler's List and The Shawshank Redemption in mine.

Rubbish list. No mention of some classics like The Bicycle Thief ...

It's there, at no.101.

Though I agree it should be a lot higher. More worrying is the complete absence of Tokyo Story.

That, and the presence of LOTR and Star Wars in the top 10, just shows the lack of imagination of the voting public.

imdb is a quality site and provides a ton of information on films, cast, soundtrack listings etc. Plus you can play hangman.

Although I love LOTR, there is no way they should be in the top 100 - they are good films of great books, not the other way round. Memento is clever but, at 19, a little high too, IMHO. The Usual Suspects should probably be in the top 10.

The Lord of the Rings films are far to reliant on special effects so its good to see films like The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption up there. But Shawshank should be number one!

Film lists are stupid anyway. Older films should be weighted because nowhere near as many people have seen films from the 30's as more recent films.

Citizen Kane isn't described as the best ever film by critics for no reason. It IS the best film ever, though not as good as 2 Lord of the Rings Films of course :shootself

Aaaagghhh!! Why? Why does everyone love it? Tell me?
I depends what kind of movies you like really.

Have you actually seen it? Apparently you either love it or hate it. The story, the acting the music, take your pick!

The fact that it wasnt over hyped by the media when it came out but spread through word of mouth.

1. 9.0 Godfather, The (1972) 105,880
2. 9.0 Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The (2003) 79,825
3. 8.9 Shawshank Redemption, The (1994) 130,955

Shawshank getting 25,000 more votes.
