I always take a sharp knife to Tesco and remove broccoli stalks before weighing. I estimate this simple measure has saved me several hundred pounds over the past ten years.

Then as has been mentioned you really are missing out. Broccoli stalks sliced and fried in butter and garlic are delicious. I always do this when cooking Sunday lunch and serve them as an appetiser. Never once had someone not love them.

I once bought some chillies from an Indian cash and carry. I only wanted 5 for a recipe. When I handed them over at the till he gave me a look of disdain and waved me away. Free chillies. Yay.

You should work on your accuracy more (or sit down)

Don't, I had a stag doo once in Bournemouth, ended up in a single with no "facilities" so i pissed in the bin, opened the window onto a sloping roof, but lost all my "cleverness" and instead of simply tipping it out threw the whole thing, waking up the whole b n b as the metal bin bounced off said roof

I only recently discovered that the stalk is the tastiest bit.

Roast them like you do with roast potatoes. Bloody lovely
