These things happen. If you ask someone to prod about under your bonnet and it induces a dormant fault then its hardly the garages fault.

If the car is under warranty then no problem. But if its an old car then replacing a starter motor is one of those things that happen.

You seem to be implying that you think the garage owe you somehow? Unless this was a newish starter motor and you can prove that somehow they have damaged it or shortened its life then I suggest you stop trying it on and pay the bill. Or collect the car and take it elsewhere.

your rights are you own the car, go round pick it up with a Mate+trailer or the AA.

think you might be missing this guys point he seems to think the garage have cocked up or disconected the starter moter on purpurs to make money
which i thinks wrong, give the starter moter a wack with a hammer that usualy frees them and see how it goes for a wile if it jams again then its time for a change
best of luck

What grounds do you, or he, have to believe this?

Blimey. Somebody gets it.

Im comparing it to somebody going in to hospital with an ear infection and coming out with a broken leg.

If you had asked your mate to look at your car and this happened wouldnt you be a bit suss ? But because its a garage its ok

Can you start a car with a battery pack, that has a broken starter motor ?

Apparently you can ! Because i just have.

Car is now outside my house.

Should i be thankful that ive saved myself £150 or annoyed that i was asked to stump it up to get my car started again ?

i got it too, why i said go retrieve the car. you cant start directly accusing the garage without something to back it up. now it seems you have. first of tell all the name of the garage and secondly tell the trading standards. i might be inclinded to sue them for the cost of the battery pack too.
