Even though Klaus Jan Huntelaar is the top goal-scorer in Dutch football he is not included in their World Cup squad as, according to the coach Marco Van Basten, they have enough strikers.....which is nice.

Five Ajax players in Dutch World Cup squad

Zeist, May 14, 2006
Five Ajax players have been included in Holland's World Cup squad. Coach Marco van Basten announced his squad on Sunday. Maarten Stekelenburg, John Heitinga, Hedwiges Maduro, Wesley Sneijder and Ryan Babel have been chosen to go with Holland to Germany. Klaas Jan Huntelaar, the top goal scorer in Holland, was left out of the squad. He will go with Holland under 23 to Portugal for the European Championship.

Van Basten said that Huntelaar left a good impression in the short training camp the past week. ,,He is a cheerful, nice guy who did well in the training camp. But four strikers is too much, that's his bad luck. He can now go to the European Championship with the Under 23 team and prove us wrong.''

Polegate
Robben is more of a midfielder - still a quality strikeforce though

I would tend to agree that being a top striker for one year does not prove yourself but how can Sven justify having Theo Walcott in the side. He hasn't proved himself but Sven is obviously hoping he will come good and Sven will say how good a manager he is.

Sven would never leave Jan Huntelaar out.

I've seen KJH play - he is the real deal believe me.
I can't believe that the Netherlands can afford to leave him out.

And don't forget that Roy Maakay isn't there either - they feel they can do without him.
