Yes I'll be there being a red rebel.

Ol Carrington has been in defence recently.

Hoping the rain doesn't wash this out...hoping for a big crowd. Looking forward to it,.

Me and Trotster are going. Anyone wants a free Worthing ticket PM me. XX

Despite their apparently unassailable League position, Lewes have been showing signs of vulnerability in recent weeks. And their performance at the Dripping Pan against Worthing at the end of last season was dreadful.

Could be a close game.

Come on you ROOKS!!!!

Gotta miss it. Ben Carrington, the Woodside legend to score the winner against the small town in East sussex that always floods at a drop of drizzle. Is that why they play at the dripping pan? Little chance of it being called off. Since being relaid in the summer, the pitch at Woodside road has been like a bowling green, even after being played on in heavy rain.

the conditions were atrocious and abandoning the match was a mere formality - had to laugh at the antics of Pook/Bloor at the end - both had been grizzling that the match should be called off, until Worthing went 2 - 0 up! Then "brains" (Darren Freeman), who had been trying to wind up the Lewes bench all second half thought he would add a bit of calm to the situation by hitting a Lewes player (on the back) as they walked off!

Lewes players celebrating at the end was hilarious.

Roll on the re match!

Not quite what happened mate, Lewes number 7, tall coloured guy decided to slap freeman twice on the back of the head when leaving the pitch.

Roll on the re match because Worthing played you of the park!

Terry17 - I was a neutral today - sorry if I got the Freeman bit wrong, sounds like I missed the first bit - was on other side of pitch in a howling gale, but Freeman deserves all he gets!

Thought Worthing were more "up for it" than Lewes today.

Dodge looked OK, so did Will Packham!

OK mate - fair do's. I did see after the 2nd goal freeman done a klinsman right into the Lewes bench which wasn't on.

The Re-match should be good. I thought somone was going to walk if the match had not been abandoned.

From a purely selfish point, I'm delighted it was abandoned as I couldn't make it today. Both clubs meet in the senior cup sometime in January. Bring it on! Who said Alan Pook and Danny Bloor were whinging?....I can't believe that!
 Totally out of character.

Z - sadly I think the SSC match is on the same day as the re-arranged Luton match.

not all doom and gloom for Worthing - the re match will be another big payday

Match Report from the Rooks' website:-

Saturday 27th December

RL Div 1 south

Worthing A Lewes A

Three changes from the side which had lost at Staines last time out, with Ben White making his debut at the back, Jay Lovett moving into midfield in place of flu ridden Kirk Watts, and messrs Whiteman and Newman coming in for the injured Watson and Fontana up front.

The pitch was amazingly moreorless fine when the game kicked off, but relentless driving rain returned after about ten minutes, by which time Whiteman had put a header wide which he would undoubtedly have converted had a gust of wind not interfered at the crucial moment. At the other end the home side created several good chances, and ex Albion man Paul Rogers missed the best of them, heading a corner over when he really should have given his side the lead.

Disappointing though it would have been for a surprisingly large crowd given the conditions, the players should never have returned to the field from the dressing rooms at the end of the interval. But they did, and despite a consultation with the two managers on the hour mark in which both apparently indicated their willingness to call a halt to the now farcical proceedings, still we carried on. Danny Davis became the latest Rooks player to join the 'blatant penalty not awarded' club, and then they scored when the ball stuck in a big puddle on the edge of the Lewes area. Sam Francis duly nipped in and rounded Dominique before slotting home, and they went two up shortly afterwards. However when Newman failed to convert a simple opportunity thanks to another puddle, the referee had seen enough and off they all trooped.

Some will say that we got away with this one, but let's be honest, if the sensible option had been taken at half time, not one Worthing fan would have been mumbling about having been cheated. It was also not 'the same for both sides' - we played up the slope and into the worst conditions imaginable in the first half, and although the two goals were conceded after the break, you might as well have tossed a coin by then to decide who was going to open the scoring. I still fancy us to beat them when we next meet on January 20th - but given that it's the SSC and we are already facing a major fixture pile-up as well as a serious challenge fom Windsor and Eton, do we really want to? Time to start praying for some dry weather between now and Tuesday.......

Lewes : Jean-Zepherin; Chin, Cable, White (Harris 40); Adeniyi, Davis, Kadi, Kennett, Lovett; Whiteman, Newman.

I was expecting someone to throw that back in my face. Up until yesterday, the pitch had been perfect. My only explanation: The wind must have changed from west to east, pushing a severe depression from the Lewes area to normally sub-tropical Worthing? ??? That report from the Lewes website is classic. The person who wrote that, didn't used to have a PR job with the Iraqi government by any chance? The report on the Worthing site is equally one sided from their perspective. :lolol: Bless em!

Bloor is a top man. Took B/Hill to promotion and did not get credit.

I saw him down the bookmakers the other day. His mobile rang (obviously a tip), he then stuck a grand on a horse and it won at 13-8 and walked out a grand and a half richer.....not bad for 5 mins work.

The guy has contacts.
