Just received a phone call from Ian St John at the Wrexham Evening Leader (evening paper in North Wales).

Apparently Wrexham fans are buying copies of Tom Hark in droves from HMV etc.

The Evening Leader is running a piece on the single and Falmer and on the relationship between our two clubs and how each is helping the other in times of crisis.

Droves of Wrexham fans? Contradiction in terms, surely?

Not that I'm aware of. I have no relatives named Ben, so it follows that I wouldn't be related to his grandad. Why do you ask?

Er, Cardiff fan. Cardiff being that place where Welsh is spoken on such a regular basis.

Welsh! So that's what it was! I thought he was breaking into Spanish....

Ummm, uh, well, uh, ummm, sorry. I don't.

It might as well have been in Swahili as far as I'm concerned.

Probably, now that they're all forced to learn it at school. To be fair, most of the Valleys/Cardiff population below the age of 30 do have a smattering of Welsh that they can use, just that in my experience it's only usually the folks from North and West Wales that'll use their own dialects conversationally.

(Addendum: Or maybe I'm being overly generous to our friends from South Wales!!)

Laughing Bluebird you need to take a look at the stats mate.

Cardiff "City" - Population 275000 or so?

What's your average gate?

14000 or so?

Wrexham "town" population 42000

Average gate of 4400

Thats around 10 per cent of Wrexham population.

On this statistic Cardiff need to get 27500 A GAME to match our support.

Typical South Walian bollocks once again :D :D :D

And I haven't even started on the Welsh Assembly bag of shite yet nor the fact that the nearest "Premiership" club to Cardiff is absolutely miles away.

Contrast that to Wrexham and the fact we've got some massive clubs virtually on our doorstep!!

Who was it that said

Cardiff's about as welsh as Gateshead :)
