Can the mods make this a sticky please?

Took the finished mix into Skint yesterday. It went down very well - especially the new versions of 'Sussex By The Sea' - and will be mastered onto CD in time for the first plays on Saturday. Really hope you like it, and strangely coincidental that Naylor chose this week to attack our anthem! Once you have heard the new version of GOSSBS a couple of times we will have somehow to ascertain whether the majority of our fans want to hear the new version at games or stick to the old one. I can promise you, it is seriously SKA!

Pre-orders will start in early December through the ten designated Sussex outlets, Amazon.com and HMV online: I'll give the precise date when they will start very soon along with the addresses, contact details etc of the shops we will be using.

It will be released on Monday Jan 3rd - fittingly, we're at home to Watford. Yes, it's a bank holiday but the major outlets will be open and this is of no import. The aim is to get as many pre-orders as we can throughout the month of December so we get a good idea of the numbers Skint should manufacture (and a potential chart position: if we have big pre orders it will obviously be higher) and then of course to sell as many extra copies as we can in addition to the pre-ordered ones in the week following Jan 3rd. Pre-ordering can be done online or in person at the shops, and it will be an enormous help to the planning of the whole thing if once we have everything up and running people who wish to buy copies of the single pre-order them as soon as possible.

Under ordering (ie not so many pre orders) means either:
a) it runs the risk of selling out, and not so many pressing plants are available in the first week of Jan to repress
or b) too many copies are pressed, which obviously increases costs and will mean ultimately less money for the Alive & Kicking Fund.

More news soon. I would obviously love to hear your comments on 'Tom Hark' and 'Sussex By The Sea' after you've heard them, and please be honest! Whether you like it or not it's in a good cause, we've all done our very best and I hope we have made a record people will enjoy, not just buy 'cos it's Albion!

Here's the sleeve notes I've just sent to The Large One (he's doing the artwork, has already designed the front cover which looks great - cheers Alan!)

1. TOM HARK (We Want Falmer!)
(Bopeape/Baine/Grover)
2. SUSSEX BY THE SEA (Singalong Version)
(Traditional)
3.SUSSEX BY THE SEA (Instrumental Version)
(Traditional)
4. ROLL UP FOR THE DONKEY DERBY....
(Baine)

Seven years since the Goldstone Ground was sold behind our backs by uncaring moneymen, seven years of fans’ campaigns - and and still Brighton & Hove Albion don’t have a proper home.
So here’s another chapter in the story of the Albion supporters’ battle to save our club.....

A few weeks ago we had the idea of reclaiming the Piranhas’ national football ska hit ‘Tom Hark’ for Brighton with new lyrics in support of our stadium, with the dual aim of raising money for the Albion’s Alive & Kicking Fund and trying to get the Falmer For All Campaign into the Top 20! The Piranhas were Brighton through and through, in the forefront of the local punk scene in the late Seventies and early Eighties. Many of us have very fond memories of their gigs at legendary Brighton venues like the Vault and the Alhambra and it has always seemed quite ironic to me to hear their song blasting out from other clubs’ PA systems and chanted by opposing fans.

So as part of the campaign for our new stadium at Falmer we proudly present our new version of ‘Tom Hark’ along with a seriously ska version of our beloved anthem ‘Sussex By The Sea’ - and the alternative 1990 Cup Final song for our rivals ‘Chrystal’ Palace!

This record is dedicated to all the fans who have battled so long , so hard and with such creativity and imagination to keep our club alive: to the Piranhas, especially Bob Grover, who inspired it: to Dick Knight and the Albion board, who pulled us back from the brink: and of course to the Albion players, whose dedication, commitment and self-belief against unbelievable odds have given a club with no ground and no money three promotions in four years. Thanks.

And one last word. Current events at Wrexham FC mirror exactly what happened to the Albion. It must NEVER happen again. No to asset strippers! Save the Racecourse Ground!

Get a copy up to The Racecourse for Saturday please so we can hear it too!

Excellent work by all involved and yet again this football club leads the way by releasing a football CD without a cup final in sight:clap:

Having heard the four tracks at 'work in progress' stage (ie before Too Many Crooks were let loose on it), I can only say that people will be amazed at how good this record is.

Top work, Attila.

Where are the places that we can pre-order it from? I live in Eastbourne and would rather pre-order from a shop then on-line if poss.

Having heard the Tom Hark and GOSBS tracks today, I have to say that this CD is going to be AWESOME!

Well done to all involved, and especially to Attila. :clap2: :clap2:

I will definitely be buying lots of copies of this, as a great many of my wife's family have birthdays in January. Many more friends will be getting copies whether they want them or not!

By the way, is it a re-recording of the Donkey Derby track or the original?
