One thing, it will be very very hot.

On the time difference thing, am not a massive fan of the Olympics apart from London last year, and Sydney. Remember the timing worked quite well, getting home from the pub and enjoying some sports I usually could not give two figs about.

Has anyone ever seen a disabled Japanese person? Do they have them over there?

Just thinking about the Paralympics, obviously.

I imagine there will be quite a few, in the years to come, in the region around Fukushima, if the experience of Chernobyl is anything to go by.

At a push I will watch women's judo at 3pm but at 4am they can do one.

I reckon they will put on a good show and it might help them recover from their recent natural disasters and economic problems. Madrid probably would have done well and it might have given a few jobs for their young people so that is a shame for them.

I'm not sure about Istanbul. It's a nice place but I can't really imagine an Olympics there. I only saw the tourist bits though- maybe they have out-of-town facilities.

How many cities worldwide are actually capable of hosting a modern Olympics. 30 maybe?

Who said anything about legacy? Have the Japanese mentioned this?

Not sure. It's just that we seem to have lost ours so I was wondering if the Japanese had nicked it and were going to run with it
