I think that we were fully aware of his abilities. However, we couldn't compete against Blackburn with their 3 years of parachute payments remaining, as well as the fact that they STILL failed FFP.

Let's not give the club stick for failing to spend silly money that we don't have.

I'm not giving particularly giving the club stick (although there appears to be a view that had we been more decisive we could have signed him on our terms...personally I have no insight); it's more an observation on a player that has divided Albion opinion who I rate that's all & the kind of quality we need of course...
